Here's another idea, although I haven't had time to test it.
A few days ago at the bowling center we found some gum on the carpet. It had stuck really well. I took a can of compressed air and held it upside down while spraying it on the gum. The gum instantly froze and a putty knife popped it right off the carpet.
I wonder if the tape residue would come out easily if frozen that way... What do you guys think?
