walk left throw right
« on: March 05, 2009, 03:26:29 AM »
All my life my dad (the one that initially taught me to bowl) has been teaching me to walk toward your mark when you throw the ball i.e. stand left point your body towards your mark walk that way and throw that way. Lately i have been really paying attention to the pros and have actually noticed quite a bit of them ( right-handers) walking to the left and throwing the ball to the right or straight. Does anybody on here do this? What does it do? Whats the purpose?

One thing it does, especially on the right hand lane, is help you walk around the ball return to make your 10 pins or to play very deep.

I feel that if I walk straight, the ball will take out my kneecap. So, for whatever reason, I started drifting left naturally. As long as you always drift to the same spot, no harm, no foul.

This does allow you to play a much deeper angle, and avoid the ball return while doing so.  It seems like doing this and also doing a figure eight arm swing would really help playing deep and projecting the ball to the right.
