Anybody use this on their thumb? Which one is better? Blue or silver?

I tried Hada patches, but they're too thick and Im not about to adjust my thumbhole just to accomodate. I currently use the beige skin colored tape in a roll for my thumb and it's just about perfect, but it comes off too frequently.

I use the Hada Patch as well as the Bio Skin.

I have found that if you go to a drug store and have the pharmacy order you "Benzoin Tincture" and apply that to your thumb where the tape would be it stays on for any number of games you bowl. I had the same issue with the patches but this resolved the issue and it only costs about $2.50 and the bottle has lasted me well over a year and a half now with about half the bottle left. So instead of switching to something you like you might want to try this first?

I use the Blue and the Red Hada Patches.

I used to use the Beige tape but tried the Hada patches for the same reason as you: it comes off too easily. I tried the Benzoin tincture. What a pain in the you know where.

And you're wrong about the Hada patches. The Red, 2nd fastest after the Blue ones, is no thicker than the Beige and the Blue, the fastest, is actually much thinner. PLUS the individual thumb Hada pieces never come off. NEVER!
I can bowl 10 games or more. They never curl at the edges and unless you put them on badly, you need a concerted effort to remove them. They are significantly better than the Beige tape.

Funny, last time I practiced I used a piece of the Beige tape, just to use it up. It started curling by the middle of the first game. After that I was always trying to smooth it out. It emphasized why the Hada Patches are so good!

I'll admit the patches don't come off and are good, but I just don't need that much coverage. I only need probably to cover 3/4 x 1" of an area on my thumb that always seems to be rubbing a little. The hada patch I tried was the red one. I guess I gotta try the blue since it is thinner and faster. I guess I'll just cut em in half.

I was wondering if this would be something that I could use on my pinky. I tuck my picky and got a nice sized calious on it. Or is there something better?

The hada tape is different than the hada patches. The patches stay on much much longer than the rolls of tape that you cut yourself.

This is information that if we could chart it, it should be put in the sticky informational post at the beginning of the misc section that way we could find it.

There are 4 different colors of the PATCH.
There are a few different colors of the rolls,
There are at least 3-4 colors of the stuff that is meant for the fingers. I used the blue vise and now the yellow that mellott uses. I have a different color ordered but it will be a while til I get to use it.

Anyone in the know here?

I'm currently using the pre-cut RED Hada patches on the back of my thumb to protect the comparatively tacky moist loose skin there. Without the patch, the skin on the back of my thumb rips right off after just one or two games. And no, I'm not a clam nor am I death gripping the ball.

I've previously tried in reverse order 1) wrapping beige tape around my thumb 2) applying Sure Release teflon tape to the back of my thumb hole 3) applying those little Robby's patches that attach with what smells and feels like finger nail polish (boy were those a PITA!) to the back of my thumb and 4) loading up the back of my thumb with easy slide to dry the skin.

Although the Hada tape does sometimes curl at the base of my thumb, it has never come off completely and never curls anywhere near as much as the beige wrap tape did. Sometimes I had to completely remove and replace the beige wrap tape during a game because it curled so much that it started to interfere with my release.

The Hada patch goes on the back of my thumb where I need it and does not interfere in any way with the front of my thumb where I don't need it.

One minor thing that the Hada patches do that the beige tape never did is leave a considerable amount of sticky residue on my thumb and especially on my thumb nail. That can take as long as several minutes of fidgeting to remove at the end of the day.

Beats me why I'm using the RED Hada patches except that I didn't know there was any difference between the colors. I'd think I'd want as smooth a thumb release as possible, yes? Therefore I just bought myself some of the BLUE Hada patches and will be trying them out this week.

It''s cost a little more, but works much better than the alcohol pad from drugs store.

Oh heavens, I don''t use anything like either of those on my hands. That would just dry out my skin something terrible. As a diabetic who has to prick his fingers (but not thumbs, of course) often, I definitely know better. I methodically rub the stuff off, then wash my hands with soap and water.

astrodanco -- Ask your driller to work with you on grip changes. You shouldn't be having the problems you describe if your grip is proper and you don't "knuckle" your thumb. -- JohnP
