What works really well for a control ball that is out on the market now? I have a NIB Weapon of mass Bias that I might use for this task but, I just want some different opinions and what work for you folks. If anyone is slightly rev dominant or rev dominant like myself that could help me greatly.

Not a benchmark but, a true control peice. PK 18 covers hook ALOT for me and when I want control, I dont want to play alot of boards. I am looking for something very even that dosent hook a whole lot but, when it does hook it is very contiunous. It must handle various oil conditions through surface preps. Maybe I am asking for too much?

Yes. That is a HUGE stretch, unless you have a release that creates a VERY even arcing ball, even when that ball has definite skid/flip properties.

Mo's ball's are nothing if not continuous, UNLESS you use them on too little oil. Then they, like every other ball, will roll out and hit flat.

Usuually, balls that are even arcing (control balls) are either for medium-light to medium oil OR for medium to medium-heavy oil. As you move into balls which can handle medium-heavy to heavy oil, most of them tend to be very even arc-ing (there are always exceptions), since that enables to handle the heavier oil.

So lighter oil balls, like the Blue Vibe, Burgundy Pure Hammer, Blue/Green Centaur, Jolt solid, Orbit Extreme (solid blue), Crisis solid, Bash, Bullet, Neptune, have very even rolls and ten to have smaller backends, UNDER normal drillings and for average rev bowlers, with average ball speed.

On the medium to medium-heavy side, balls like the Sidewinder, Wizard, ANger, Surefire, Horizon solid, Ogre solid, New Standard 2, when used by avg rev and ball speed people with "normal" drillings will have an arc or even an old fashioned curve type of ball path with not a lot of backend. Use any of them on too little oil or put skid/flip drillings on them and you lose - control.

Well, when I want control, I am up the back of it. eventually, you have to move left and come around it when the shot goes away and it hooks to early. With the Awesome Revs, it was great up the back but, as soon as I had to put axis rotation on it, it wouldnt do much of anything. It would give me a little hook and then hit flat as a pancake with no angle. A great peice as long as you were up the back and playing up the boards. It just got really flaky when I had to come around it. I have 2 other friends that had Revs at the same time that had similar types of games and it gave them the same response. I know some Mo balls are continuous but, some just are not continuous for me. Of course, I dont think Most Mo balls are designed with the rev dominant in mind either. The Seek was very continuous for me! A great ball. I am wondering if the WMB will give me the same type of continuation but, with less backend and a more even read than the Seek?

BTW, was that a Heist Haugen was throwing today on the telecast? That seemed to have a real even look. Maybe that will be a good idea???

Yes, he used the Hei$t on both lanes 1st game and on the left lane 2nd game. I have one very good benchmark ball very even reacting. Last AMF ball that had this even reaction was the Radar.

Works for me with a 105 deg. pin next to ring CG slightly left of center of grip giving it a touch negative. I like that layout for wet/dry as it takes off that over reaction off the dry. I also can play fall back shots with a layout like that in older wood houses with a pronounced track wear. Holds the pocket great and doesn't over read the break point and gives you good carry. I put it away when I move farther inside and need more zap.

Remember most times when you do that, you change your PAP. The Revs like most MoRich balls has a strong Mass Bias drilled for ONE PAP and depends on a consistent release to get the drilled-in reaction. Once you changed your release, the ball is a different animal. Based on that, small wonder that it was no longer the same ball - it wasn't.

If you want a different ball reaction from the same ball, even after you change hand position, you need to stick to a symmetric core or drill a 2nd mass bais/asymmetric ball for your 2nd PAP.

Sure they are; I've seen tons of crankers in my area use them well and successfully. One young man has recently gone from Juniors to adult in the last 2 -3 years using strictly MoRich and is averaging 230 in a house where most good bowlers struggle to average 210. One of our local drillers falls into the same class. So it is very possible for strong release bowlers to use MoRich balls well.

Remember I say this as one who does NOT use MoRIch balls well. Only once in a while am I happy with one of his balls, but when I am I am very happy with it: Truck, Labyrinth, and LevRG are two of them. I failed with his Shock and Awe, Hercules and Minotaur.

The purple ball was a Heist. BTM reviewed as a fairly even reacting ball for medium oil for the average rev & ball speed bowler.

It will do just that with a similar drilling as you had on the S&D. I loved both b/c of them being controlable. I still have a 15# NIB WMB waiting to pop someday soon. You just need to make sure there is plenty oil in the heads to use it.

Also, I suggest the Scorchin Inferno for the reaction you are looking for. I get this exact reaction from mine drilled 3" pin to pap. Cover is adjusted down to 600 grit dull for the heavy stuff. Love it so much, I have another NIB for backup one day.

WOW I gotta go with HPP I have mine drilled pin under Bridge and it is smooth as silk doesn't hook a ton but it is consistent and smooth on any condition.

This is a really good question. I'm sort of in the market for the same thing. They have been putting out a tad drier shot at my house and my freak is just too strong. My razor blade and fired up are even really stronger with the crisp backends.

What I am looking for is the old "Slash" benchmark type ball. I don't know if any of the companies make anything like that nowadays.

Out of everything i have tried in the past 2 years, my Lanemasters Big bang has been my first ball i want to pick up, very controllable yet strong ball. I feel very comfortable when i have that ball in my hands. Will probably pick up another one for later down the road.

Another good control ball i have found iS the Hawgzilla, one big arcing ball.

lazy guy I am... just my oppinion:

Whatever ball yu want to use for the task of a "controll" ball keep in mind to lay out the ball accordingly...

smoother rolling balls with a good midlane read are better than skid/flip balls but I guess every ball can be turned into a controll ball with the right layout and maybe some surface adjustment... just my thought.

For me my Tsunami is more about controll though I layd the ball out long and strong
