Rule Question
« on: March 21, 2006, 01:19:05 PM »
We had a incident in league tonite.

The lane oiler malfunctioned on only 1 lane in the house, on that particular lane it stripped off all of the oil without laying anymore oil down.
So the 2 teams moved to a different pair that were properly oiled and bowled.

Is that legal, i can't find anything in the rule book one way or the other.

Thanks,
pdiddy

If the center had the available lanes and its not in the rules or by-laws, that is legal. Its only fair if you think about it.

If the lane was stripped and NOT reoiled, it was against the rules to use it. Teams may change lanes due to mechanical malfunctions. It looks like a legal move to me.

I agree with TT here.  I would compare the situation to a disabled pinsetter.  The only issue I see is if you didn't get to practice on the new lane or lanes; but that's not really a rules issue, just a personal one for some players.

if any team is getting on your because two other teams were moved to a lane where they could bowl on the same conditions as the rest of the league, those guys are just whinny little you know whats.  Every team in the league has the right to shoot the same condition every other team in the league is shooting on any given night.  It would have been incribly unfair to force a team to bowl on lanes with a much tougher, and illegal oil pattern.
