whats your opinion of this
« on: January 26, 2010, 02:45:03 AM »
was talking on the phone with my uncle the other day he was telling me that one of the centers he bowls at is getting really out of hand. the guy who runs it has got a hardon for trying to break jeff carters average record. apparently he is adjusting the shot on the one night he bowls so far this year the guy has like 19 honor scores including 2 sets of 870+ and 6 other 800's; but unless your a high speed bowler that can throw the ball out and watch it rip back u cant even manage a 200 avg. now i trust my uncles opinion since he himself has had alot of success in the past. now my question is would u still go to bowl this house knowing that 1 night a week the shot is gonna be fried with flying backends. now he isn't the only one scoring but the fact as a manager he is blocking out the biggest majority of the patrons. the association manager has not even graphed the lanes on that league since he too bowles in that league and has had a great deal of success. I'm not jealous nor am i in anyway effected by this but i feel things like this are why bowling awards aren't as prestigous as they were even 5 years ago and the sport itself has lost alot of its character

the only criteria for a lane to pass USBC certification is that it has a minimum of 3 units of oil.. this is hardly anything..

I had thought about trying to create a pattern that was the highest scoring as possible.. just to see how easy it would be.  I think it would be fun for a gimmick but I wouldn't want to shoot on it everynight and it just be whoever got luckiest.. I have enoughof  that in my handicapped leagues already..
