whats your opinion?
« on: August 29, 2009, 01:49:02 AM »
on the new usbc ball regulations to be put into action in january 2010.
the regulations or pretty much regulation is that the balls rg will now be within 2.46 and 2.80, as opposed to the previous 2.43 and 2.80.
this means that many ball lines have to be discontinued, for example hammer's the sauce series.

what do you think of this good idea or bad idea?

doesn't matter.  The ball manufacturers are ahead of this. RG can be manipulated with placement of balance/weight holes.

Bowling balls and drilling tech has FAR outstripped any minor regulations change in RG or differential.

Limiting the low RG to 2.46 only changes it .03, which, when given the added strength of some of the assymetric cores, is almost totally negligable.

I think that if they REALLY want to have an impact, they should make some serious, SIGNIFICANT, changes to both bowling balls AND pins, as well as regulate the playing conditions under stricter, more demanding conditions.

Until they make some SIGNIFICANT changes, they aren't really all that serious about changing/improving things, only trying to please both sides by making a TOKEN change in some very MINOR aspect.

No, already existing, approved balls are generally gradnfathered in. The same thing happened a couple of years back when they reduced the max RG differential from .080" to .060". BUT they put a time limit for how long those balls could still be sold. Like the Visionary Immortal series had a year limit, more or less. Then Visionary had to stop selling them.

It is barely a start on some of the changes that need to be made. But then the USBC is an organization that is very slow to change. Politics is, after all, a dirty business.

most people have a similar opinion to me. If you take the sauce for example and drill it with a pin length of anything longer than 4.135 its legal (as that would put the exact rg to 2.46.

something i just remembered is that the thing that mainly creates hook (out of the ball) is differential and coverstock not as much the rg

the balls and pins only matter if the shots are easy. make the shots harder and scoring will go down. the balls and pins are fine.

I was pointing out the irony of calling someone retarded in a sentence that contains a misspelled word...

Guess I should have included a smiley face.
