Wheels fell off
« on: January 14, 2004, 12:30:09 PM »
I’ve got to share this with you guys.  I've had a pretty good run so far this year, I’m quick to jump on the board when I shoot the good games.  Heres the other end of the spectrum.

Have you ever had a nite where nothing works.  I finally shoot a clean series, high game was 199.  I went the entire nite without carrying a strike on Lane 4.  Balls felt good, looked good.  Tried 3 different balls on that lane.  10 pin, adjust, 4 pin, adjust 7 pin, adjust 10 pin.  I tried everything except throwing lefthanded.

Maybe some of my shoulda beens can go Dave’s way and help him out.

Just did not think it was possible to go the entire nite without a double.

I know where you are coming from. First 8 weeks of the season, my low series was 550 and I was consistently between 580-650. The past 6 weeks however have been more of a challenge. I've had two weeks with no doubles in a 3 game set- one was an almost clean 569 (one washout) and another was an abysmal 493 series. This past week I shot 588 (199-191-198) and had 3 doubles all night, one open (washout in the first) and all the rest were spares (9,8 and 7 counts). Lately I've been trying to match up the right ball with the lane conditions, but they vary so much from pair to pair (and lane to lane) that I always know I'm in for a challenging shot.

I'm sure you'll get back on track next week.

Matt

Sr, most of us that have bowled for any length of time have had these "spells". Two weeks ago in my first 22 frames I had nothing but 6 strikes and 16 nine pin counts. (3 of the strikes were in the 10th of the 1st game).
I am a firm believer of all things even out. Some nights you feel like your throwing the orb perfectly, but can't score. Then there are those nites where you know you are struggling with timing, release, etc., but still carry "everything".
Enjoy the good, forget those bad nites.

MTFD:  I figured tonite was just a payback for all the sloppy ones I've gotten.  Was just hilarious that nothing I did would work, especially if you could have seen what was carrying.

Took a ribbing from the guys all nite, like:  Too bad we have to bowl on both lanes, or you hit em, I'll get em.

Lately I’ve had the issue lately of simply losing my carry for a game or two.

Like Monday first game good carry, leave 4 10 pins but shoot 235. Second game not much different. Leave a 9 pin ,  3 10 pins and shoot 236. Next game leave hit the hole everytime leave 2 4-9 splits and 5 10 pins bad move in the 10th on fill ball and shoot 170. The fourth game change balls and shoot 280 with a 9 pin in the 2nd.

Last night carry good the first game 248 (3 10 pins). Then the next two games have one double and 13 10-pins shooting 195, 192. Tried moving, tried ball changes, just quit carrying.

Oh well….. Humbada will return someday.

My problem is the reverse .. EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE I HAVE A GOOD NIGHT!

Lately it's going GOOD .. hate to say anything .. once I start saying it's going GOOD .. here comes those NORMAL GAMES AGAIN!

With you I know the BAD ONE was only a ONE NIGHT STAND!

happens to us all, I set a personal record for leaving 19 10 pins on a night like you described.  I loved everything about how my shot felt, looked, etc...  Just the freakin 10 simply wouldn't go down.  At least I had a good night shooting them hitting them, but not a double on the night and a painful 550 series when with any luck, it could have been an easy 7.

Of course, there have been nights when I shot a 7 despite hitting brooklyn and all other kinds of horrible shots that happen to fall.

It is MOST DEFINITELY possible.  Even cramming the pocket.  Ever shot a 1160 for a six game block, Clean?  Oh yeah....

Darold, come up north and bowl in my house !!

you can go 10 pin, adjust 10 pin, adjust 4 pin, adjust pocket 7,10, pocket 7,10
almost any day of the week.

last thursday night in league in about 5 frames ,5 different bowlers, 5- 7,10's how's that for consistant carry.

by the way, was this at Airport Plaza ??   the way the pins fly there can't believe you could not carry a double
