When selling balls, are you totally honest about...
« on: February 11, 2005, 01:29:25 AM »
the number of games thrown with it?  If there's 6-10 games thrown, have you honestly given enough time in your decision to sell?  I know you want to retain as much of the product value.  Or do you resurface before you sell and not inform the buyer?

I don't know or remember if anyone has asked.  If so, let me know and I'll remove the topic.

Thanks,

With the exception of the used equipment that I've purchased, I can tell you, within a couple of frames, how many games are on each ball that I own.  I relay that information to the next buyer and hope that he/she are able to accept my word.  After all, I might be the one buying a used ball from them in the near future and I sure as Hell wouldn't want to have been lied to on a purchase.

I am totally honest; although who tracks the exact number of games you've used a ball for? I give my best guess-timate. I tell them if I've polished it or dulled it and offer to make any change they'd like. I still get a**holes asking stupid questions and asking if I'll take $50 less (basically they want me to give them the ball and ship it for free. Gotten so sick of this BS that I don't sell balls here anymore. I now only pm someone who's looking for what I have.)

for my older stuff, I don't have records. Nor do I have records for the stuff I've gotten from others. But I do know how many games are on my newer stuff, since I started keeping records, about a year ago.

I try to tell people the best way I can about the general shape of a ball. If it needs a resurface, I tell 'em - etc.
Check out my listings on ebay -

You'll get a real good feel about what I try to tell people.

Something tells me that nobody will reply and say "No, I'm not honest".

You think I'm bad, you should see the way RandyO keeps records.

I'm wondering if it was him that Bill Hall was referencing in the January BTM.

If Curse would sell off a ball right after he shot an honor score with it, any ball he had for sale would have less than six games on it.
