After one year in the PBAX /USBC pattern league..
« on: August 18, 2011, 06:35:25 AM »
I've found that I can pretty much handle all of the patterns (unless really flooded or a bone dry) with a 3 ball arsenal..

Rattler (long and medium pattens)

Damage (medium and short)

Mojave (short patterns)

I have just about everything in the way of equipment, but these three have turned out to be the best for me..

What's been working for you??

Roto Grip Cell (Heavy to medium heavy)
900 Global Profit (For anything of medium length)
Lane Masters Hornet @ 4000 sanded finish (short and broken down)

Even though I dabbled with a lot of other things, after several years of the PBA leagues and a summer of the (tougher) Team USA Experience conditions, I pretty much used a Black Widow Bite for the long and heavy stuff and a Wicked Siege for everything else.  I don't know if it's the newer covers matching up better or just how these two balls read these patterns, but I used them almost exclusively.

Vital Sign(Scorpion and Masters)
Special Agent or Shift for all the other PBA patterns.

I think you're correct. It's very possible to use a small set of equipment especially if you make surface changes to your equipment. For me the decision is 1000 or 2000 ab, shiny or dull.

Team USA Patterns

AfterMath Pearl heavier

Epicenter for anything meduim

BlackOut anything drier than meduim

This is with the obvious exception of patterns like tokyo or that terrifying 33 or 34 foot pattern yikes
