Where are the Ball Junkies?
« on: January 25, 2017, 07:59:08 AM »
Hello bowling family.
My name is Gary and I am a Bowling Ball Addict. As a new bowler I think that I am a BALL JUNKIE. I am a Hammer Head but have went outside of Hammer. Oh wait EBI is the company that own all the bowling balls I bought and bowled with two games.,Didn't like it now they are sitting in my basement. Sold a few to friends. Traded them for hammer pieces. Now storm is coming out with the Timeless(and just because I am a two hander I want it,cause a two hander influence it). I know its not a hammer but you know lol. Where are the ball junkies and let me here your stories.

Milo, out of curiosity, do you have a connection or do you pay retail?

Most of them I get when they go on "fire sale" at the end of production. The Storm Invasion was a great example. I bought 11 of them at one time for $75 each.

Same with the VG Nano's. I bought 6 of the solid(have two left) and 10 of the pearl(have 3 left). They were all $89.

I keep an eye on eBay as well and if something comes up cheap, I grab it.

My most recent score was the Dream for $79. Bought 5 and all are gone already.

Sounds a lot like a guy I know as well. *wink Cases upon cases of old 16 lb. NIB Urethane equipment, Faball, Champions, U Dot Vector 1 and 2's etc..and if I'm not mistaken an old Lustre King ball polishing machine! lol

I don't buy whiskey on eBay.

Just to be clear, I buy every new Motiv ball when it comes out, from my local pro shop, at his regular prices. In fact, when I bowl league tomorrow night, he will have my newest "unusable" ball(Jackal Ghost) ready for me to pick-up.

I rarely sell NIB balls local, unless someone is looking for something older and aren't going to buy anything else. And even then I will usually work a deal with my pro shop guy and make the transaction through him if possible.

I don't drill, so I need my pro shop to stay in business.

Drinking the whiskey and then buying on the eBay.

But I do know if they see any alcohol they will pull the listings.  I've been trying to get some Makers Mark sealed bottles and the listings keep getting pulled.

For all the Motiv balls you buy is the first one drilled or blank?

I have him drill it. When the production run ends and they get cheap, that's when I buy several.

Maker's Mark is pretty good stuff. Try the Makers 46.

Trying to get ahold of some horse racing collector's bottles.  Secretariat, Seattle Slew, Affirmed, Zenyatta.  A bunch on craigslist in Lexington and Louisville, but nobody will ship, and I don't want them bad enough to drive 4 hours each way.

I saw some at Bevmo locally, I'll check Friday and see if they are still there. Not sure which horse, but it was the Derby editions.

Woodford Reserve is fantastic! Elijah Craig is just as good though, for a few dollars less.

Sell one? And break up the family? Man, that's just blasphemy!

Honestly, I would just get the Viral Pearl. Same core and would save you a ton of money over trying to pry a Vibe away from some idiot like me.  ;D

For some reason I knew you would say "viral".....

Going to hit total wine after work to reload. I'll try EG since they don't have woody at $22 for 750 lately.. saves me a buck or two!!

Total Wine is a good place. The one in Elk Grove is huge.

If you run into any of the MM horse racing bottles pick it up and I'll send you some money.  I already have the blue American Pharoah bottle.
