WHERE ARE THEY NOW? PBA Champions List *Ah memories*
« on: November 24, 2004, 06:15:21 AM »
Hey guys,

Found a great link on the PBA website which lists everyone that has ever won a PBA title on the National Tour. I grew up watching the tour as a kid in the early 80's on ABC (Saturday afternoon) and seeing a bunch of those names brought back some memories.

Gosh I miss Chris Schenkel now...

Guys I wonder about these days below...
The "Where are The Now," Section

Dave Ferraro
Dave Husted
Mark Williams
Ron Palombi Jr.
Jess Stayrook (Loved to watch him saw on it)
Butch Soper (Love watching this guy twist it hehe)
Chris Warren (Loved the backswing and inside out follow-through!)
Bob Benoit (300 on Tv! Quaker State open right?)
Tony Westlake
Robert Lawrence
Ray Edwards
Bob Vespi (The reason why I wanted a "Sumo" Shirt and a Purple Hammer drilled Pin on "Axis" to get the Fab logo to spin!)
Joe Firpo

Anybody have any favorites or know of any current information on these past champions? Thanks!

Wow,

Thanks for the reply. I always wondered what happened to those guys. Wasn't there a right handed ray edwards? Used a wrister I believe. I remember seeing him on a 1991 telecast with Tony Westlake. He was using a Polished Black Rhino Pro.

Thanks again!

Dave Ferraro - In Kingston NY. Still in the bowling business as far as I know and I believe wrote a book about bowling a few years back.

Mark Williams isn't the SW Regional Director... Pete McCordic is.

Mark is happy whooping up on us SW toes every regional.  He's easily one of the top four or five non touring members in the region.  Very tough.

He's hosting a regional this weekend in his center in Beaumont, Texas.

Righty Ray Edwards is leading the eastern regional point standings if he is the one you are talking about. I saw him throw at a regional over the summer and I am sure it is.

Don't ever, ever bet against Tony Westlake in a bowling match.

Do you guys remember the old King of the Hill they used to have on the telecasts? Whoever won the tournament bowled against the reigning King of the Hill for extra money. I seem to remember some guy with dark hair---maybe with the last name Williams (not Walter or Mark)---owned it for like 4 or 5 shows. I thought that was a great feature. That must have been at least 10 years ago.
