After almost 14 years on BR (aug. 2003 as ADDIK) I've met many new friends and made lasting ones. Some became like a big brother "tenpinspro" and like my little brother "geetaan"....
I know many others, whom I see every year at tournaments, and some in other leagues.
But a few BR members, whom I never met..... I wonder where they are now..
MegaMav
tekneek
excaliber
Justdale
T Brockette
nicanor
And that Doc something guy......
T GOD
-
Tekneek is out of the bowling business, and is enjoyable golf (from what he tells me!)
T Brockette, nicest guy you'll ever meet. He's just getting back into bowling and is here every now and then.
I wanna know what happened to leftside!
-
Justdale is a friend of mine. Recently signed on with Storm and runs a shop.
-
MegsMav has his own bowling web site.

Speaking of "where are they now?" I wonder whatever happened to JustRico? He use to comment pretty regularly on here and I haven't seen him post in quite some time.

I wondered where he went as well.... Always very informative on knowledge of the game.

Rico just gets sick of ballreviews.

Doesn't T GOD = kotm (king of the mill)?
I left the bowling business in 2009 and took off 5 years. I would lurk here from time to time even during my time away from bowling. It's crazy that this March 30, will mark my 16th year on ballreviews. That's actually right around the time I first started bowling at 16-17.
There was a really bad period on this website years ago when anyone who had a great wealth of knowledge to share, or would answer people's questions with expert insight the trolls and misinformed would argue back and forth with the experts to the point that a lot of good members left.
Throw in the political mess from the Miscellaneous - Non Bowling Related forum and you drove away another half of the community, who political views aside were here for one reason..... to learn more about a game they like/love. The fights there spilled over to the point that no one respected each other's views on bowling itself. Lots of great people left this place, but bowling's home is on social media for the true growth of the sport. This site is a great resource though for equipment.
This is why we can't have nice things.

I left the site years ago, only lurk from time to time now. I rarely recognize a user anymore.

As momma used to say "y'all always tearing shit up".

Thanks for the shout out Impending Doom. I am still alive and kicking and currently bowling only one league (Not very good I might add). I used to be heavy into the buying, selling and trading on site, and was here all the time. But don't really do that anymore so now I mostly just lurk. Also my wife ran a center for almost 10 years so I really was integrated into the bowling community.
You might be talking about Sawbones as the Doc guy. If so, he passed away several years ago.
xrayjay - Thank you so much for asking what some of us old timers have been up too.
-
T, you're my favorite Texan! I don't know if he was asking about Doc Hollywood or Bones.

Thank you my friend. Sure would be nice to have another get together. You might be right about Doc Hollywood.

You never know when me and my brood might be in Texas. Muahahahahs

I've had the opportunity to meet quite a few guys and gals from the site over the years, but it feels like it's been a long time now. I remember years back when I ran a plastic ball tourney that quite a few ballreviews members came to. It was a lot of fun. I miss guys like SrKegler (Darrold Eyer) and Scott Merritt (can't remember his user name). This place has really changed a lot since then.

Good to see you're doing okay! I couldn't use my original handle "addik" for some reason so I made a new one.
Sawbones, though I've never met him, I will always remember him for the tip he game me. And often I find myself thinking of him when I bowl or watch bowling on TV or live. That tip was about watching how the ball enters the pins and what it does. Defecting, driving too hard, basically where the ball ends up in the back of the pit.
Plus, I worked with ortho doctors and I've seen some real sawing of bones in the OR. lol

Gotta admit! I was one of the contributors to the "WILD WILD WEST" days we had on here when we got into politics, on the Miscellaneous Forum. I had some serious adversaries, but I made a few friends as well. And I still hold the view that, "I was right, dammit!" LOL! ;)
How about the narcissitic, ever-ego expanding "Peachee"? It was fun just reading a lot of his mythical, non-sensical, funny posts!
I always thought Nicanor was like a Greek god of bowling. His posts had so much info, I couldn't take it all in!
Me and Russell aka jabroni used to go at it, about politics! (oh yeah...Robadat, too!)
Famous quote from Pchee2 that always made me laugh:
I bowl simply to pick up chicks and I do this by using manly 16 lb balls and throwing the big hook. Lots of revs and very fast. The pins don't stand a chance and neither do the chicks. Chicks dig power and manliness they don't dig fluffing the ball with boy weight 15 or girlie 14. Chicks want a real man's man.....someone tuff and buff. These characteristics in men are hard to find in the bowling alley. Ladies, look no further your search is over. The Peach is the last manly man in bowling.
pchee2<~~~sprays the lane with manly 16 lb balls throwing the big hook fast while averaging a buck sixty two and 26.35 CPL.
And Ragnar Floggurass....that highly intellectual and existentially minded bowler, that made you think!
Or Srlunatic, Mumzie, Scolai, Nodsleinad, Inverted 1, or my all time favorite Phillip Marlowe???
These folks were all REAL "CHARACTERS" as well as bowlers! ;D

Pchee2, TBU, all sorts of characters! #manlyrevs
-
I have also been here for a long time and mostly lurk now. Many moons ago, I had a get-together with Doc Hollywood, Pchee2, Nicanor and ThongPrincess here in the Bay Area and even bowled a couple of games.
My question is where is Ragnar Flogurass now? He also had interesting posts.
-
Yep, I was the cause of the demise of the Non-Bowling Miscellaneous forum. Oh, there were a few here who gave me some help like Jesse, Might Fish, the self proclaimed "Secret Agent" man from Detroit(no idea which made up name he/she is using now, but there was a lot of them), and GTx2 among others.
But in the end, I just wasn't adult enough to handle it, so I screwed it up for us all. ;D

Was Doc Hollywood the one that sold a ball cleaner or something?
-
Ragnar... I remember him, he and I were doubles partner one year when we had that bragging rights doubles on this site.

I loved doing those bragging rights doubles... I always had the pleasure of Joe Falco as my partner.

Joe Falco, the guy who kept winning bowling balls.....lol

Yes, Doc Hollywood sold bowling ball cleaners.

Don't forget the "Hose".... His signature line was ..."when Oklahoma Women need their fire put out, they call the "Hose"...
Hose was the son of another popular member here by the name of "Bones" or "Sawbones" I think it was. HE passed away a few years back.

He sold Doc's Magic Bowling Ball Elixer (no, not Elixir) , which reduced oil absorption and made the ball go slightly longer, without polishing the ball. I still have a bottle of it; I wrote the date I bought it: 7-24-07.

I think Doc Hollywood was a chiropractor. Besides the Magic Bowling Ball Elixer he was selling a salve for aching muscles.

I played golf with Doc back in maybe 2007. He was a blast to be around, very personable and quite athletic for being into his 80s. I met the "hose" too. What a character!! I miss Sawbones.

Yeah! That was when Ball Reviews ROCKED! All those real-life characters,....who also by the way, liked to bowl!
So many fun times! And we had the Virtual Leagues going on simultaneously, which had me checking in here multiple times a week, also!
Miss those folks a lot!
