Where do I find.....
« on: January 22, 2005, 08:10:55 AM »
different types of Scotch Brite pads?  I've looked around and can only find the green ones that are comprable to 600 grit sand paper.  Please tell me where to find this stuff so I can do some ball work this weekend!  I'm looking for the following pads.....

7445 - White pad, called Light Duty Cleansing - (1000) 1200-1500 grit
7448 - Light Grey, called Ultra Fine Hand - (600-800) 800 grit.
6448 - Green (?), called Light Duty Hand Pad - (600) 600 grit
7447 - Maroon pad, called General Purpose Hand - (320-400) 320 grit
6444 - Brown pad, called Extra Duty Hand - (280-320) 240 grit
7446 - Dark Grey pad, called Blending Pad (180-220) 150 grit
7440 - Tan pad, called Heavy Duty Hand Pad - (120-150) 60(?)

Thanks for the help!

You can find them online if you are having trouble finding them in stores like home depot and auto stores.

NAPA Auto Parts stores carrying a few of the pads. Automotive paint stores sell many of them. Home Depot has a few.

Okay, just got home and I'm empty handed.  Went to Auto Zone, Home Depot, and Menard's and nobody had a clue as to what I was talking about.  I showed them the numbers I had but they didn't know what those numbers referred to.  Honestly, neither did I.  What do the numbers 7445, 7448 and the like mean?  I appreciate all the help.  Keep it coming.  I need these pads!

auto stores and woodworking shops have them.

Those are 3M stockpart numbers.

you can also find these conveniently pieced with sponges on many supermarket shelves in the detergent/sponges section. Look for the 3M label. green, maroon, blue and white are all available, but not under those part numbers.
If the label says 3M, then the colors are identical no matter the part number.

I normally stock up on the green (600 grit) , maroon (320-400 grit) and blue (1000 grit, needs some PRESSURE).
