A new (1981?) Blue Dot for $150??
« on: October 03, 2008, 02:12:25 AM »
Just saw this on Ebay. While I like Blue Dots more than the next guy, I think this is stretching it just a little bit.

Oh, and delivery is by USPS First Class mail??? and it's extra!

No, not unless he's lying about his location.

The ad says used but isn't the label usually in the grip center? Looks new to me.

Somebody bid $150 for a polyester bowling ball!

Maybe they thought it would perform like an XXXL?

Fourteen hundredths of a pound is about two ounces, brainiac.

You could take a white pad to the ball, undrilled, and get it close to legal.

I doubt that, the XXXL is a lot stronger.

And so????
That is not the point.
Besides the XXXL will never have the reputation that the Blue Dot has.

$150 plus shipping for plastic?

Why I know of someone that has access to a 16# NIB Sapphire Pearl that would be shipped for $150.

On a brand-new, never-drilled BlueDot that was the original hardness, there are some who would probably be willing to pay in the range of $125-150.  When the hardness changed a few years back, it became a glorified WhiteDot.

For a number of years, the BlueDots were the hardest ball out there when measured with on the durometer.  The did not track in near as easily as its sibling, the WhiteDot nor any other poly ball on the market.  In a highly polished state, it seemed as though it was capable of going dead straight even on a surface like the parking lot...

I've got one of these, older than his, it used to be my sons, when he was a "Yoot". I never knew it was worth so much!!!

His looks new but perhaps it was plugged by an expert who matched the swirls. Or it could be drilled on the opposite side but that makes no sense.

Mine is 14 lbs., one less than all my other balls. I guess I had better take good care of mine, it will soon be an antique (like me!)

And, by the way, you can buy a Storm "Ice Storm" that measures the same on a durometer, and looks even better!
