Where would you rather bowl?
« on: December 07, 2004, 01:23:27 AM »
50-lane house, 751 high series for the season, 210-215 high average, 0-300's, 299's and 298's this season, 5-10 total 800's in 30 years.  Usually average 1-3 honor socres a year.

--------or--------

32 lane house that unless you shoot 750 you are not in the top ten that night.  270+ is jackpot and usually there are several 300's a night and 800's are a dime a dozen.

Be careful, your answer will reveal your true nature as a bowler.

Easy, the 50 lane tough house. A place like that would increase my pot winnings dramatically as skill would be rewarded more than on a "walled" shot. The only hitch would be if there was a guy like Immabaggernow in my league there, then I wouldn't have a chance.

i would have to bowl in the 50 lane house because you get better simple as that.

i bowl in a league not to toot my horn by any means where i am at 230 and second in average only because i leave 10 pins and 8 pins and im left handed because i either A have to use a ball with a ton of backend or B use a ball that does nothing like an axis razor wire   it sux its not bowling its a crap shoot in brackets and side pots   i am trying to put togeter a pba league where you bowl on whatever pattern the pba is on that week and on their off weeks you bowl on another pba shoot that you havent been on in a while  but in st louis its kinda hard with everyone wanting to be a wall player
--------------------
heres what i dont understand   some guy in my league has been bowling this league for 5 year same league same house same shot why is there a need for EIGHT (8)  yes i said eight bowling balls      stevie wonder averages 235 at this place!!!!!!!

I'm going to be the pain in the arse and say neither.  I bowl in a 40 lane house were 800's are rare, and honor scores are usually earned.  High average is about 235, but that is by a lefty that could probably cash at a regional if he was having a better than average day.

Don't think we've seen more than 2 300's this year.  The house is known for it's lack of carry.  Most bowlers that bowl here and elsewhere in town average 10-15 sticks more at the other centers.

No-brainer here!  The 50 lane house for sure.  It'll make you a better player in my opinion.  I'm actually in the same boat but I bowl at both houses now.

Ya know, I can't answer the question.  The key is which house has a more "equitable shot" allowing the various styles and each side a relatively equal chance.  The higher scoring house may well be a cranker's paradise and all others need not apply and the lower may be a lefty haven (gee, maybe I'm thinking of a couple houses...).  If each were equitable, probably the 50 lane house.

I'd probably bowl in both, just for the different experiences (I have a similar situation now).

However, I'd probably enter most of the side pots and brackets in the 32-lane house. The so called "flingers" that Sawbones talks about are not actually bowling 270+ (they're donators in just about any environment), and I personally throw enough big scores on really soft conditions to at least break even.

As some has opted to say I would probably bowl both to get both experiences.

Experience tells me you might as well go to the 32 lane house is it is near the 50 because the 50 will loose its business to the easier house.

I would practice in the 50 lane house to tune up my game.

I would bowl league in the 32 lane house to beat all the "flingers" - which I could do, because I was tuning up my game with hours of practice in the brickyard.

I'd take the 50 lane house.  As I get older, I just don't have the power game anymore, and being accurate just isn't enough sometimes.

For me this is kind of a trick question. I would rather bowl in a smaller house, but with a tougher shot. I dont like large houses, like what I bowl in now.

Well i already bowl in house number 1, so that.  But i'd rather have a small house.

Preference is the 50 lane house: I do that now in a 12 lane house that I've faithfully bowled in for 27 years in leagues. Currently though I bowl another league on Mondays that describes the 32 lane house. I don't even bother to get into brackets or jackpots in that house, as you can get bounced throwing 280 to a 290 or 300 sometimes...

I think both will help me in the long run with my tournament bowling, as I learn to play different parts of the lane, gain more knowledge with my equipment as in when to use it and when to put it away, as well as the mental focus necessary to achieve good scores in both houses.

well a tough one.
I am doing that right now.
I bowl a scratch league 6 man teams. scores are
ok mostly a 725 will win total for the night
high games mostly 255 or better a 248 maybe.
But we all have fun very lively and relaxed.
and have 5 - 300's so far and 1- 800 shot.
I have high average at 232 with 1- 300 game
with 30 bowlers the pot games to get in is $4.00
that is $1 for total. get about 20 bowlers for $20.00 per game
its a older house with wood lanes with guardian for
20 feet or ? not a bad shot bowled on easier.

2nd house tough shot have 14 teams handicap lot of older bowlers
some brand new average 140-160 aveage but help keep bar open.
very dry no laughing not much fun 1 300 bowled so far took
3 weeks for a 700 to get shot our team average there 970.
at the easier house 1035 but is more fun why I DON'T KNOW.
we just won the 1st half but bowlers are complaining don't
want to come back next year.
I think part of it bowlers buy the hook balls then if no oil
its the house but if a bowler in  a slump it easy to blame the
lanes and the tough house is a reverse type with a out of bounds at 9 board,

myself I am lazy I like the easy house only need couple of balls
get out of house have a beer or 2 go home in a good mood go to bed
go to work, bowl to unwine  watching TV sometimes ain't it.
I would like to think I have a fair chance at a 300 once a month.

I am getting long.
I would love to bowl on a sport shot then you can brag.
The system of bowling is broke 300 & 800 are dime a dozen
is some houses they are rare  the bowler need a pat on the back.

till bowling centers have oilers that are the same are close shot
how to compare bowlers.
a house average in a easy house go to a tough house the handicapers
will kill you .

I am not a pro but if I go bowling tonight shot 675 or better my life
is better it still don't mean anything its a game,a average,
I am a decent bowler I don't have the money to go anywhere
I have bowled in regionals almost cashed.
I was going to the PTQ last month but $350 before holidays wasn't
going to work.

enough complaining I think I will stay bowling at the easy house
I don't need the aggravation.
because not that I can't bowl at the harder houses it
the people are like robots like work even see a bowler get 8 or 9
in a row they less excited then the easy house.
sorry I got to have fun I get serious at tournaments.
I pick easy house.

Unfortunately, I would bowl in the wall-e-ball 32-lane center because the 50-lane center would have no good men's leagues and would more than likely be a dungeon.

With all things being equal, I'd choose the 50-lane center.
