Solid resin all the way. I too find pearls to be pretty inconsistent. Jumpy, over-under, you name it. IMO, the only good thing about them is their ability to get past drying heads but......at our house, drying heads mean carrydown. IMH, pearls and carrydown equate to 500 series! LOL! I would much rather throw the slightly shined solid than fight the condition with a pearl.
Just for the record, on a fresh shot I like the 3by5 800grit matte BB. For carrydown and drying heads I go with the slightly shined 5by5 BB. Pretty much the same line for both. Also impressed with the Element(matte somewhere near 4by4.5) on drying heads. Thought it would burn early but it doesnt seem too. Hmmmm....nice.
