It's not "stupid" to ask this.
How many college-bound wide receivers do you know who are going to seriously consider Georgia Tech? I like Georgia Tech -- helluva school, great academic reputation, it's in Atlanta and there's a lot to do.
But it's also coached by Paul Johnson, who thinks throwing the ball anywhere over 10 times a game constitutes a "wide-open passing attack." If you're a wideout, you don't go to Tech. Conversely, if you're a fullback, running back or run-blocking offensive lineman, you beat the door down trying to get in.
If you know you match up well with Storm, and going to a Storm-sponsored college will give you a competitive edge over other bowlers, it's not stupid at all. In fact, it's pretty savvy.
When selecting colleges based on athletic reasons -- which all top-level athletes do, to one degree or another -- "fit" is very important. If you're looking at schools purely from academic, course curriculum or distance/social/family/money concerns, obviously a Storm-sponsored bowling team has nothing to do with it. But when you throw in the fact you'll be competing for the school in a sport, everything sports-related is on the table. I'm sorry some don't seem to see it, but it's true.
