bowling thumbless
« on: November 12, 2010, 11:06:54 AM »
I went to bowl a few games today. The lanes were horrible. Everything I had was hooking too much including my plastic ball. So I tried a few shots without my thumb. I was still playing very deep but now I was throwing it much faster. The carry was insane. Pins were flying everywhere. I am tempted to try bowling thumbless in league. Have any of you had success bowling without your thumb?

I actually throw thumbless to slow down.  Friday night the outside of the lanes went to hell.  I tried to move in, but there was so much carrydown that I came up light no matter what.  I switched to my Natural and threw it with no thumb.  This took 4 mph off the ball speed which was enough to get the ball to react.  It was my high game of the night and was as high for my team that game.  Most people would consider that giving up/bagging/screwing around.

I bowl w/ no thumb and have 4-300 games and 795 high series. Been doing it for years and it is definetly NOT for everyone. Lots of strain on the wrist and middle finger. I have success doing it and if your good with it I say go ahead if not ya can always go back to the thumb.
