I was looking at my equipment the other day, and realized something. Ball roll is (probably, still have to test it) also influenced by which finger I put in the ball first. If I put the ring in first, it feels slightly different than if I put my middle finger in first. This has to change some part of ball roll. So, I put the question out to BR. Which do you do first, and have you tried it another way?

I also put ring finger in slightly first....I will do opposite way next time I bowl to see what happens. Never even thought about it

I voted with the general consensus so far. I put ring and middle finger in first at the same time. Most teaching videos and live instructors advise putting in the two fingers before the thumb. I do not recall anyone saying to put the ring or middle finger in first.

Has anyone seen a difference when you insert the thumb ahead of the ring and middle fingers?

I did that when I first started using fingertip grip back about 1970 so my memory is not that clear on it but I think I would lock up in the ball.  That is to say, my thumb would not come out cleanly.

I think the rule of thumb (pun intended) back then was for conventional grips to put the thumb in first, then the fingers.  For fingertip, put fingers in first then drop the thumb.

I put my middle finger in the ball so we understand each other... 

Both fingers at the same time then thumb then spread index finger way out with pinky up against ring.

Putting the thumb in the ball first is probably not the best way but it sure does work well for Tommy Jones.

Put both my finger in at the same time, although I will try it out and see if I notice a difference. My logical guess would be that it makes little difference, or at least none other than feel, which could also be why people may see a difference. If it doesn't feel right you may not throw it exactly as you normally would thus the change people are noticing.

Actually without knowing or thinking about it before this thread I place the middle first and then adjust both for what  feels comfortable before inserting my thumb. The middle does go in first,
