ok ,I know i should already know the answer to this by now ,but i am confused.
Will a dull ball or a polished ball hook more,(cover more boards on the lane on the same shot).
I ask because The other day I was bowling and i was using a mean machine that i had just taken to 500 and a gravity shift at oob, probably about to answer my own question ,but i would really like constructive input.
As i was bowling i noticed the shot was loose with the gs, a bit of swing ,standing 22 playing out to 8,but if i missed in the ball ran thru the nose and if i missed right it wouldnt recover.Changed to a weaker ball and it went 60 feet where the gs ran high. Changed to the mean machine at 500 and it held pocket beautifully to my suprise. no jump at the pin deck .when i got it right it ignored the oob and still crushed the pocket.
So i had hold and recovery with the dull ball, but backend no hold or recovery with the polished ball. Now if i hit my mark the gs struck but i think i had 4 boards of area with the mean . 4 boards to me is a football field.yeah i think my moron light is lit. More surface less overall hook, but more consistent reaction, tighter line, and stronger more defined finish.Less surface, more boards, more length, open up the lanes after dull ball wont carry. I am still stuck on stupid dont laugh to hard ,i learn a little more every day,but i think i need to understand this for proper ball selection in the future.JUst thought i would get some input from some people who know .
