Title: WHICH ONE TO BOWL LAST ON YOUR TEAM?
Post by: BOWLGNUT on June 30, 2003, 08:25:15 AM
THERE'S 12 RESPONESES TO WHO'S THE BEST.THERE WILL BE MORE. HOW ABOUT THIS- BETWEEN EARL ANTHONY AND WALTER RAY WHO WOULD YOU LIKE TO HAVE AS THE ONE TO BOWL LAST ON YOUR TEAM? I WOULD HAVE EITHER ONE. THIS IS NOT A DEBATE BUT LIKE TO KNOW WHAT EVERYONE OPINION IS. SPECIALLY ONE ABOUT WHO'S THE BEST.

Earl Anthony.  With a reactive ball on a wall with no carrydown, that's a no brainer.  Some say that Earl wouldn't have matched up too well with reactives, but I say anybody that can split boards could do fairly well with one, lol.

Forget Kung Fu, I know Ron Bahr!!!

The only difference between youth and adult leagues are that the big boys are allowed to whine.  They're more entertaining anyway.

Walter Ray Williams.  Walter is a good clutch bowler, and that is what you want in the anchor slot.  I would put Earl Anthony in the leadoff position, because he was a great pace setter.

Hamster-

Earl threw reactive in some senior tournaments didn't he?  If my memory is correct on all this I think he did quite well with them too.

I don't really play cards and I am not 79, but it fits together somehow.

Hmm, I suppose it's only logical he's bowled with reactives, seeing as how he only died a few years ago.  I think what most people meant was if he'd have bowled with them in his prime.  But this is one of those questions that is like, what's better than a strike every frame?  When you're that good, it just becomes a carry contest.  That being said, who would you put on an all-time PBA all star team?  That's really hard to decide, but here's my tentative list.

Earl
Walter
Norm
Roth
PDW

Granted there are a TON of other names that could easily make it.  PDW has probably the most raw talent, if he'd just cut some of the wildness out.  Norm has incredible versatility.  Roth will hit the pocket all day, just like Walter and Earl.

So I see that you're going for an all righty team, eh Hamster? lol! personally, I'd dump either PDW, cuz you can't count on him to be sober long enough, Norm, simply because i can think of someone greater. That person would be Parker Bohn. I typically am not a fan of lefties, but this guy has got to be one of the greatest out there, even with the bad year that he had in 2002/2003 season. He WILL be back.

Wow, what a team But your forgetting people like Dick Weber, & Don Carter! With Mr. Weber winning in 5 decades he(Not Pete) should be included in the five. With so many All stars wins and being voted the best bowler in the first 50 years, Don Carter should also be included! And speaking of lefty's, Why not Mike Aulby!

Earl. No question.
Whenever I think of pulling it out in the clutch, I can see Mr. Intensity, and the incredible concentration on his face.

Bowling? Of course it's a sport.

My only deal with Parker is his speed.  He likes throwing it fast, and that's what hurt him last year.  Some of the patterns weren't conducive to his shot, and maybe it was just hard adjusting, I can understand that, but even when he got on the show, his speed got him into trouble.  Lol, I know there are probably better or comparable bowlers, but there could be 10 teams or more of the best to ever play the game.
