ever leave the 9 pin?

i was just wondering, my ball hits right in the pocket the ball carrys through and all im left with is the 9 pin? why, it seems my ball has magically ridin through the 9 pin. is there anyway i can fix this problem.

Typically 9 pins are left when the ball does not deflect enough while driving through the pins (for right handers anyways). This can be because your ball is entering the pocket at too much of an angle which allows the ball to drive straight past the 9.

Small movements on the approach or an angle/line change will enable the ball to deflect a little bit more, thus tripping the 9 out. Another solution is to switch to a lighter ball, say switching to 15 pounds from 16. The lighter ball will deflect more upon hitting the pins.

And1,

2 weeks ago I left 11 stone 9-pins in three games while getting basted by my two opponents in scratch match-play league. Looking back, as some on here have suggested, I should've switched to a ball that wasn't finishing so hard, but every ball looked great rolling and ripping through the pocket. But I agree with what the others have suggested, cutting down your angle is usually the best way to avoid 9s, but they have a way of creeping up on you nonetheless.
