Title: White Color after Ball Bath...

Whats with the white color on some of my balls after I give them a ball bath?

What should I do to get rid of the white color?

It has happened to my Strike Zone once when I left it in the sink for too long. It went away after a while and while it did have the white color, it reacted the same.

I treated an OI with a dawn/hot water bath and had the same thing happen.  I then rinsed the ball off with just plain hot water and most of the white color was no longer there.

Thanks... this is actually the same ball I did it on.

For some reason, I have found Infernos very subsceptable to this color change...

I think Big B covers in general. I've had a Scorchin', Original Inferno, and a Strike Zone, IN my locker at the center that is up against an outside wall. It got cold enough to make them get that hazy white look to them too.

Moisture absorbed into the coverstock. I took mine and placed it under a towel, in the trunk of my car for 8-10 hours @ 70 deg plus. The heat will draw out the moisture and the ball may still sweat alittle. Just wipe it off and use some type of sealer, like POLISH or clean and buff. This will keep the ball from soaking and drying out you shot the next time you use it. handmeDN

I have found that the balls do that whenever you clean them with water, and they do not get thoroughly dried before sitting. That is why I usually wipe them down with a rag after a bath, and I may use a cloth with a touch of rubbing alcohol on it. I also form a paper towel to a point and push it into the finger holes and thumb hole to get the last of the water out.

I found this happened a lot more when I did it in Florida, compared to here in Missouri.

Maybe it's associated with municipal water vs. well water?  Even different cities treat their water using dissimilar methods.
