Does anybody know when the bad batch of white tape will cycle out or if anywhere on line has the old stuff or a new "corrected" batch? I can't use that batch of latest tape that came out like 5 months ago, it is so tacky and unuseable. I just can't get used to it and I can't find any more of the old batch. I was told back then on here that it effected like 5 companies, that 3M made the tape and tried something different.

Ebonite's Powerhouse White Premium Tape was just released. It is an improvement. Not the same but not the abrasive sticky stuff currently out there.

When I attended a recent trade show for Ace Mitchell, I discussed this very topic with every manufacturer in attendance. I got no satisfaction from ANYONE other than Ebonite and her eis what their eastern sales rep Damon Sarrocco told me.....
the company that used to supply all manufacturers the fabric used in the production of the white tape has gone out of business.
Apparently Storm, Master, Brunswick and Ebonite were trying to find a suitable replacement manufacturer and what they found was that the fabric allowed the glue to seep through onto the textured side.
Despite all of the complaints to all of the manufacturers, only Ebonite's PowerHouse division has been able to locate a fabric that will not allow the adhesive to bleed through. I have gotten samples and it is the truth.
So, if you want some non-sticky white insert tape, don't buy anything other than the PowerHouse brand tape.

I bought some Brunswick tape down at nationals because the I had same issue with tackiness in my storm tape. Brunswick tape I got feels fine ad I can still get out of ball clean with no hanging issues

OMG WHITE TAPE HAS SUCKED! I couldn't believe how tacky its been...I felt alone in the world until I read this! I have some older ebonite tape that isnt so bad so I have been using that this past entire season..

I fortunately bought a 500 roll just before they switched.
Had a few guys wanting to hit me up for some but I think I'll hoard it. :)
-
I bought a Storm 500 piece roll from a seller on eBay and asked before I bought and the seller told me the tape he had was alright and wasn't sticky on the surface. Well I was lied to and now have $40 worth of tape that I can't use.

I've been using the new white Powerhouse tape for about a month that somebody gave me at a tournament. The grit is a little different from the old tape when looking at it, but I don't notice when I'm using it...it's pretty good.
The only place I've seen online so far is Buddie's.

Ive got some of the tacky stuff. Take a piece of say 2000grit sand paper and lightly rub it over the tape after installed and it was fine for me. Ive only done it a few times, I prefer the tacky.

I have been using the Valentino Franken tape on top of the white tape, narrow side up, to reduce the amount of white tape my thumb comes in contact with. Putting the Franken tape on top like this leaves only a very small inverted U shape of white, just enough to give me some 'grip' but still slick enough to slide off the thumb.

We got a couple boxes of the EBO tape recently and its all good!
-
The Ebonite stuff is the only tape out there I can use, the other stuff is a disaster.

When I first heard of this problem about 4 months ago, I bought some samples of other brands. I use Master 1" white textured and have never had any problems with it. I have my next 100 piece new roll sitting in my supplies and I checked it; it is not tacky.
Of the 3 I bought to test, Brunswick, K&R, and Storm, Brunswick and K&, are tacky, so tacky that just sitting there, folded tape to tape, they stuck together. I threw them in the garbage. The Storm feels like my Master tape. I kept it, all good.

Those are old rolls you happened to get, the Storm and Master were the exact same and if you get new rolls now they are tacky. It's the sad state of the supplier going under and as of now Ebonite is the only one to locate a good replacement

Until they get it figured out it looks like Powerhouse tape is the choice of Doug's Pro Shop!!!

I have used the powerhouse 3/4" white tape for a month now and it is better than anything out there. I had tacky issues since May 2012 with the other tapes. Powerhouse does feel a little different and has a little more texture than the original white tape. Powerhouse is definitely the best out there.
