Anyone else have an "oil shortage" at their bowling alley?

My Teal Rhino Pro (sanded to 1200 grit and polished with Beans sauce) is still too much ball!!

 

Anyone else have dry lanes at their house??

the strength of the new balls isnt helping either. they grab harder and earlier.

I guess it depends on your style of play too.  I was bowling against someone yesterday and he was a marvel while I was using a blue hammer(the original urethane one) and I was covering more boards than he was.  What I should have done was back off on the release and used something reactive to match the marvel's power.  As an example, I rolled the ball up 7 and went Brooklyn.  He used the same line and struck.

It is pretty typical for center to lower the volume of oil over the Summer simply because the league participation is probably less than half of what it is in the fall.  Bowlers tend to take a break over the Summer.  So does the lane machine.

well, u havent seen desert yet, im on vacation in shanghai, im throwing a house ball (12lbs, heaviest ball on the racks) and there isnt a drop of freaking oil, and they say its oiled

When a house bowler gets his finger stuck in the ball and fall on the lanes, for many ppl its called lame bowler. When a pro does that its called the Machuga flop! ha i like this one.

The house I bowl at during the summer has no shortage of oil on the lanes, at least the first two weeks.....considering that the 250K has been the only ball that has come out of my bag thus far.

Not at my house haven't seen it. But if alleys want to see bowlers lofting it halfway down the lane then so be it. Hopefully no one will cause any damage to your house.

I'm staying away from bowling this summer and going with all golf.
 
During our season we didn't see a lot of oil. I could have spent the whole season playing my Power Groove. Usually with any thing else I could get maybe one and a half games up the right side before moving way left and playing around 25 to 10. I struggled my third game most of the season because of this. Mainly because I'd start moving left a little at a time the third game and it got drier from where others were playing and already burned it up. So the end of second into the third required moving 10-12 boards left with my feet to get around the burnt heads. Didn't figure this out soon enough in the year.
 
My Power Groove was good for two games before having to make big adjustments left. (I kept the ball shined)

The center that I work at has the policy of "every lane, every day" at a minimum. The lanes that leagues bowl on get redone before the evening leagues. No shortage here.

There are five(5) houses in our association. Here is the rundown on all of them:
 
 
The oldest house(1959) in our association  has 32 wood lanes that are over 50 years old and worn out however there is a brand new Laneshield overlay. This house is probably the "driest"......especially in the summer and during the day in the winter. The only time the lanes get cleaned and oiled is for leagues. The rest of the time it's a crapshoot.
 
The second oldest house(tied) was built in 1962 but has 32, 3 year old Brunswick ProLane synthetic lanes . This house has the most oil . The lanes get cleaned and oiled every morning and before every league at night.......all year long.
 
The second oldest house(tied ) was built in 1962 and has 8 wood lanes that are in very good shape. The lanes are cleaned and oiled before every league all year long. There is very little open play during the day or during the summer due to the owner having a job. These lanes were resurfaced earlier this month and will seem slicker until a track wears in.
 
The next has has six(6) wood lanes and was built in 1967. It's way out in the country and it is in good shape. The shot seems slicker than it really is due to there being more oil placed near the outside of the lane at this house. The lanes only get done for leagues.
 
The newest house in our association was built in 1979 and has 24 wood lanes that are in great shape. It too is being resurfaced this summer. There is plenty of oil here both for leagues and open play.

Our house usually puts out fresh oil for leagues, but with no air conditioning it doesn't seem to hold up as well lately.  They seem to skimp on the oil if there are no leagues scheduled but sometimes you can talk the mechanic into oiling some of the lanes.  I am not looking forward to bowling this summer without any air conditioning.  It may only be a dry heat, but it is hot.
 
Oh, and the name of the house is Desert Lanes.  They're going to live up to that name this summer, if not by the lane conditions, then by the environment.

I've always wanted to bowl in a summer league in Mesa or wherever it is in Arizona in the summer without air conditioning and sahara lane conditions. That sounds like a blast.
