Ball Polishes

I've been talking to various people and asking questions lately about Bowling Ball Polishes. I decided to post this to see what others use and if they are willing to share this information and ....Why that brand of polish?

Mostly Track and Storm brands. They work best for me, easy to use and give me the finish I wanted.

I'm still using the React-A-Shine's I got some time ago.  It's amazing how long 5 quarts of polish will last.  I prefer the actual grit polishes (like  Squeaky Clean, which is no longer available).

Guys, right now I only have 3 M Finesse-It II. I've had a couple people tell me to get some ball polish and save the Finesse-It for my car.....lol....That is the purpose of my post, to see what others are using the most of.

With in reason, I think you'll find folks use the polish, like the brand of ball, they 'like' or feel most comfortable with. Nothing wrong with Columbia polish, I just like the results and feel most comfortable with Track, Storm and some Ebonite products.

Again, I think it's what YOU feel comfortable using for what you want the ball to look like/perform.
JMO

BTW, you want REALLY high gloss ?  Try Diamond Gloss...5000 grit finish.

Exclusively Brunswick (High Glosss & Rough Buff) - not beacsue I like it that much, it is the only polish available around here...

I'd like to try the 3M rubbing compounds for car body work, but these are also not available in Germany at all

Brunswick High Gloss and Rough Buff. Mostly because Brunswick stuff has a good distribution chain here in Sweden. Plus that I think the Brunswick stuff does the job most times. I mix in some water or use a damp towel when I want to vary the lustre of the coverstock surface.

I have tried an automotive rubbing compound. It worked quite well. If I remember correctly this rubbing compound was designed for rubber details. I don't recall the brand but it wasn't 3M. The guy I got it from told me he thought that most rubbing compounds designed for rubber details would be ok for bowling balls since they (most) didn't contain any silicon or wax.

Nevertheless, I prefer to use a product that was designed for bowling balls.

asguy, high gloss doesn't work for me, as I don't have the right kind of revs to make the ball move when it hits the dry. Even when I use the Finesse-It, I only polish hard enough for a light shine, but never a high shine (gloss). However on some of the later balls like the 5.0 and Paradigm, I'm having a problem with those balls, so I've sanded them, repolished them plugged and redrilled them, and etc. and nothing works. A couple of people I've talked to have told me that they don't like Finesse-It because it cuts down on the back-end for them so I decided to try some regular ball polishes as all else has failed. The main reason I was using Finesse-It is because it contains no waxes and silicones to plug the pores on the ball where as a lot of regular ball polishes do have those ingredients in them.
