Who makes the best balls?
« on: January 09, 2007, 01:10:07 PM »
I like Storm the best so far. I hate ebonite because I think they make sponges and Brunswick was cool with me until I bought a Radical.

So I say Storm!

Storm is right now my favorite, but I have had a good experience with lane #1 for a little, ebonite with the big one, and Brunswick a little. I might try a hammer ball some time, but right now I will stick with storm

I like brunswick made things... Brunswick and MoRich are my favorites for the moment. Nothing fancy... smooth controllable equipment.

Oh and I don't like how Hammers lose their reaction... my Road Hawg went from deadly to dead... same with my Widow. Maybe I got a bad widow.. but the one I had changed owners twice since I sold it (I got it new).

My favorite stuff is anything that is of the Lane 1 technology, pure and simple, and 4 life.

Its not about WHO makes the best balls...its about what you as a bowler match up with.  Ask Patrick Allen and Wes Mallott.  Wes Mallott is on top of the points board with Track, but PA was absolutely horrible with it during the first part of the season.  PA switches to Ebonite (which you hate) and he goes undefeated and wins the first tourney back.

Its about what you match up with.

I really think this is a personal point of view topic. I know that there are alot of ball companies out there that do not work well for an individuals game.

For me I have to agree about Ebonite. They do not work at all for my game. But Big B and Storm work the best for me. I have had a few TRACK balls and they work well, just not as good, but still decent balls.

Right now, Storm and Hammer. But it changes with the different releases. The Special Agent and the Toxic are 2 GREAT balls.

Each company prduces great bowling balls.  It's a matter of matching up to a particular ball.  Right now Hammer matches my game really well.

Every company makes good stuff for most people.  It's rare for a ball to come out that just doesn't work.  Some people match up better with a particular company or core family, I think most people can use almost anything with at least a modest degree of success.

Personally, I've had the most success with Dynothane.  I've shot my highest series, including my first 600 (656) with a Thing Lives drilled stacked leverage.  A 644 tonight with my Energy.  I like the hit, I like the Soaker covers.  My TL has probably 150+ games, has been cleaned (not resurfaced) once, and reacts like it did when it had 20 games.

I guess you fellas hasn't tried any Lanemasters/Legends equipment yet. I haven't found anything better and have tried track, hammer, and ebonite. I would say Hammer and track are in a tie for runner up though.

For me its About Brunswick and Ebonite, a little Hammer. Storm is good when i want a ball with some Pop on the backend but i dislike Track and Columbia the balls die too quick, and yes i clean and maitnence my balls vigorisly.

Chitown got it right here. For me currently, it was Legends/Lanemasters, but has since seems headed in the direction of Lane 1. I can tell more when I get my 3rd Lane 1, a Solid Cobalt Bomb  and try it of which is scheduled to arrive this Thursday.

Amen to that. I couldn't have said it better.

Every company makes good balls. However, as bowlers, we are all different and what works for bowler A, may not work for bowler B. I like Track stuff, doesn't mean they make the best stuff.

The best ball is the one that knocks down all of the pins.

Yeah...  The only way to find out is for yourself.  You may hate a certain ball reaction but someone else could love it.
