« on: September 21, 2004, 06:49:00 AM »
i would like to know where all you guys are bowling. how well you guys are doing this year. thought we should open a topic for people to brag a little. also why dont you throw in your thoughts on the house you roll at, your name and age if you want, and whatever else you want to say. this topic is open.

I'll go.  My name is Dave, age 28, and I bowl out of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  I shoot in a couple of houses here.  They are May City Bowling Center and Westdale Bowl.  As to my thoughts on the houses I shoot at, both are great!  I consider them a home away from home.  Both have wood lanes, automatic scoring, etc.  Nothing too fancy.  May City has more of a wall than Westdale.  What you score at Westdale is what you earned.  May City has more honor scores than any other house in the area per year.  I'm not scoring too bad this year so far.  At Westdale I'm averaging about 230 and at May City I'm averaging 222.  The only balls I toss are Track balls.  Just got a new Rule and love it!  The check is in the mail Rick!  That's all I got.

Richard, 30 something - roll out of two houses. A little 10 laner in Hoosick Falls, NY and the other is The Bowlers Club in Latham, NY former home of the Empire State Open. The club has very burnt old wood and can be tricky due to the poor condition of the lanes. Track is burnt so either the gutter (boards 3-6) or around third arrow with small belly firm speed. The BBQ is a big wall on very good condition wood. 7-7 pattern 39ft. 80 units in middle out to about 5 on the edges. Average is up in both but to early to tell. Will be right around 220 at both. No bragging, league is only a long practice session to get ready for the ABC Nationals which are the highlight of my year.

Hi my name is Colleen and I'm a bowl-aholic

I bowl at 3 different centers this year, Mission Hills Bowl every other Thursday Mixed Hdcp league 180 ave, Corbin Bowl Monday Night Sport League currently 169 after 2 weeks (8 games) and Wednesday Vegas League off to a very slow start 158 after 3 weeks (9 games), and Santa Clarita Laned Tuesday 2nd shift Scratch League, also slow start 168 ave after 2 weeks (8 games).

Last winter I also bowled at Pickwick Bowl in a Monday Scratch league where I averaged 194 and shot my high game 279 and high series 714.  The 279 was not part of the 714.

I'm Travis, 32 yr old bowling in Austin,MN. My average has been in the 190's for the past few years. I hope to take it up a notch this year I'm at 199&197 this year.

And what a coincidence I bowled in the Iowa state tournament in Cedar Rapids in 02. We bowled in 2 different houses and I believe they were the two Ernie MCcracken mentioned.

I'm Lisa, age 40-1/2 and live in Sterling Heights, Michigan.  I bowl two leagues and sub in one as well (all house shots).  My winter sport league will start in mid-October.

My best set so far has been 579 and that was just last week.  I haven't gotten any spare mojo yet (even with my beloved White Dot) because I haven't bowled several weeks in a row due to local bowling association commitments and some school-related things with my kids.  From this point on I should be bowling steady.

Last year I booked 181, the year before that 193, so I'm Queen of Elevator Bowling

My cousins live there (but they don't bowl) and I went there on a Tuesday during my summer vacation there.  I didn't even get to bowl because I didn't have my balls (vacation, didn't take them with me) and it's a pretty small bowling alley so all the lanes were taken!  The lanes looked decent.  I can't wait to go back some other summer and I'll be sure to bring my balls next time!

I am Jeremy. I'm 19 from Hayward, CA. I don't like to brag about my averages because I'm not as cool compared to all of you who post your honor scores here. I bowl at Palo Alto Bowl, though.

My name is Matt, I'm 33, left handed and I bowl at 2 completely different houses within 25 minutes of where I live. Monday nights I bowl at Gardner Ten Pin in Gardner, MA, a 24 lane wood center where they have the latest oil machine/stripper and put down an incredibly high scoring THS. I'm at a 224 average in that house currently. On Tuesday nights I bowl at Playaway Lanes in Winchendon, MA, a small 12 lane wood center where they use an oil machine that is probably 20 years old. It's a reverse block shot coupled with tons of carrydown through the back ends...I'm at a 183 average in that house after a month, but I've had the high average running there 2 years in a row at 195 and 193 respectively.

So far I would say I'm at 80% of where I want to be with my game, spare shooting has been up and down so far and I need to get that going much better before tournament season sets in.

Matt

My name is Dann Menna, I bowl at one house in Downingtown Pennsylvania, called The Bowling Palace. I average around a horrible 170-180 or so. I hate my home house, because we have practically no "real" oil pattern, so everyone pretty much sucks. Have been doing more tournies though. (PJBT's, and such) Last weekend averaged around 207 at a tourney.
