I throw 14# because, though Im not a smaller guy (Im 5'9 180#) I feel I have ALOT more control, can put better revs and speed, and get muuuuch better carry.

I dropped down to 14 for a while because it was a better choice at the time.

since I learner not to squeeze the ball and don't rev it up. 15# worked so I went back to it. 15 is more readily available in the pro-shop and it seamed I could get better pins.

I may go back to 14 because, I stopped buying on impulse. I can order the balls and pins I want.

I have better control and may go back to 14. I never lost any carry and only gained more control. I went back to 15 on impulse and now I'm thinking that was a mistake.

I don't throw 14# but I can attest to dropping down a lb and performing better.  I used to only throw 16# equipment, until I began purchasing once used balls from a pro shop guy for discount.  I noticed that the equipment felt lighter and mentioned this to him, and he informed me that his stuff is all 15#.  I have felt much better control and flexibility since moving to 15# equipment, although my spare ball is still 16 and so is my high load particle *purchased before switch*

I do not feel I have lost any carry, and in fact probably the opposite is true.  I know my game is a lot more accurate and I feel like if I need to I can increase ball speed without fatigue becoming a factor

I injured my wrist badly back in 1998, and it still isn't 100%, and it may never be. Even surgery may not help, because all the tests they've done don't show anything conclusive, so any surgery would be exploratory, and I'm not quite ready to try that yet, it could make things worse. I roll 14lbs. because my wrist gets sore if I use anything heavier. It still gets sore if I bowl too much with 14lbs, too.

Drill that really sucks, I KIND OF have that problem on a much lower level though, tendonitis in my elbows and my good wrist that I throw with.

I had fractured my wrist twice, and now with tendonitis in the elbow, dropped to 14lbs. This was initially an experiment with a ball that Bruce Heim set up for me from his arsenal last year. The absence of pain, and immediately throwing back to back hi 6's with an unfamiliar ball convinced me that 14 was in my future. Within a month my arsenal went from 8 balls to 4, and all 14!

I use 14# because I'm a sissy and a weakling, and I'm too lazy to work out.

Don't believe any of these guys with their "I'm injured, I'm injured" stuff.  They're all weaklings, just like me!

I injured my wrist and the pain of throwing 15lb is terrible after a night of bowling.

I'm 4'10" tall and weigh about 115 lbs. and I'm a Fluffy

At least there's decent weight blocks in 14 lb. equipment.  It rules!  Especially those White Dots!

control, control, control...

i like being able to get "a hand on it" so to speak. i can work over a 14# alot easier than a 15#. i hit my mark much more consistently. it's as simple as that.

i don't care who makes it, how much it costs, or how sexy the ball looks. does it carry the 7 and level the deck? did i just beat you? aren't i clearing the heads with my $60 ball?

When i first started bowling i thought i wasn't gonna be able to throw a 16 pound ball. I actually started with a 12 pound ball. After being convinced to switch i was afraid i was gonna drop the ball behind me. But i realized that i was holding the ball wrong and eventually switched to a 16 pound, and now since i bowl alot for less stress on my arm i bowl a 15. Anything under a 14 pound ball, the core ain't the same. But all in all, i think a 15 hits  just as a good as a 16.

I just started throwing 14 lb this week.  I got tired of hitting the pocket and not striking.  15 and 16 lb balls hit too hard for me.  With today's ball technology and soft conditions, why not throw a lighter weight ball?  If you have some hand, 14 lb balls give you more pin action because the pins stay lower on the deck instead of flying high and to the back.  After watching last Sunday's PBA telecast, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that Pete Weber and Brian Kretzer both use 14 lb equipment.
