who wants to the houseball/Ebay game?
« on: February 19, 2014, 11:19:22 PM »
I often wondered if any of the old balls at your local bowling center have any value on EBay?  So here is a little game us BR members can play.  During your next trip to a center in your area you just need to find a ball that is on the rack and list it on EBay starting your auction at .01 cent and see where it gets to after a 7 day listing.

If you want to play just post your listing here and post results of the sale.  I would be interested on what balls get posted and how much they sell for.  I will be searching the racks this weekend looking for my ball.  Good luck to those that want to play.

Shoot!!

You guys should come to my center. We have every old ball imaginable on the racks....Infernos, original and Absolute. Old Sumos, White Dots, Ebo VoRtex's, Columbia Reaction Rolls, Ebo Nitro, Black hammers, power grooves, you name it...we got it. And the thing about this house is......it is the largest house in the DMV area......48 lanes!!

Whenever I struggle in this house, I immediately go straight to the racks!
Some days you're the bug....some days you're the windshield...that's bowling!

While I'm not planning on participating, I don't see how this automatically becomes a "selling stolen property game". While I wouldn't condone taking a house ball, purchased by the center for customer use, why does a ball that was left behind by someone, not purchased by the center, become the center's property? I would say ask the manager if you could take just to be sure everything on the up and up, but unless the ball was purchased by the center, or donated to the center by someone for their use, talking about stealing and selling stolen property seems a little extreme to me. Lighten up a bit.

theft n. the generic term for all crimes in which a person intentionally and fraudulently takes personal property of another without permission or consent and with the intent to convert it to the taker's use (including potential sale). In many states, if the value of the property taken is low (for example, less than $500) the crime is "petty theft," but it is "grand theft" for larger amounts, designated misdemeanor, or felony, respectively.

I will consider taking back one of the many balls that I left on the racks over the years.  I'm sure the center isn't going to miss the old 16lb LT 48 that was left on the rack that has the name "Elmer" above the fingers and dried out grips.  You guys are making sound like the intention of this was to walk into the office of a center and grab one of the damaged balls that has been repaired and sell it.  Considering that this doesn't seem to be a popular thread I will lock it up as I don't want any of you angels to spend a night in jail for "grand left".  You guys need to lighten up a little.
