I often wondered if any of the old balls at your local bowling center have any value on EBay? So here is a little game us BR members can play. During your next trip to a center in your area you just need to find a ball that is on the rack and list it on EBay starting your auction at .01 cent and see where it gets to after a 7 day listing.
If you want to play just post your listing here and post results of the sale. I would be interested on what balls get posted and how much they sell for. I will be searching the racks this weekend looking for my ball. Good luck to those that want to play.

That could be interesting if anyone does it.

Would it be ok if the owner of the bowling center took a ball out of your bag and sold it on ebay?

I understand what you are saying. That is why I phrased it the way I did. You would be surprised the amount of house balls that go missing off the shelf.

Not talk about a nice new shiny house ball that is in play....at the centers I bowl at there is a hodge podge of old balls that haven't seen the pins in decades then there is always the occasional reactive ball that finds its self to the rack.

I know you could have found an AMF Green Mamba on the rack at Sunnybrook. I'm pretty sure someone took it now because I haven't seen it in weeks :)

LOL...See that ball could of been a winner. There was a left handed Red Pulse there too a few weeks back. Those are the gems I'm talking about. At salt river there was a blue storm too hot the one with sparkles.

It doesn't matter what kind of ball it is. It belongs to the owner of the bowling center. Unless you own the bowling center I would suggest you leave it there.
You might as well steal your neighbor's car out of their driveway and sell that. No different to me.

I left it there, so that's why I know it was there :) It was on it's 2nd drill, but still, a good piece.

Based on my recent experience, this could end up costing you... eBay seems to have recently been underestimating shipping charges quite a bit (ex. Last ball I sold..eBay calculated $17, online ups charged $23). Also, with eBay and PayPal fees, packing materials, and time/gas to get to the UPS store, you almost need a $25+ sale price just to break even.
Play if you will, but this is a friendly reminder that it will likely cost you!

If you print out your shipping label through EBay then pay it though your EBay account what they quote is what you get charged. I too experienced what you mentioned above but now I just use EBay to print my shipping labels and no more issues.
I'm not worried about a few dollars for a little entertainment, I'm not doing this to make millions.

Then don't play the game...everyone is entitled to their opinion and I appreciate yours. Good think I'm not your neighbor.

Good info to know.

If I were the Left Handed version of Penxa, I would have jumped all over that Red Pulse lol

there is a Storm El Nino and a Brunswick Monster SlayR at my center. surprisingly both balls are almost my span especially the El Nino. I decided to throw them 1 day and threw 8 in a row with the El Nino, the ball still has lots of life with the hook I was getting.

Were I work we would 86 you in a second for doing this. Doesn't matter what it is your pretty much stealing something and selling it.

Shoot!!
You guys should come to my center. We have every old ball imaginable on the racks....Infernos, original and Absolute. Old Sumos, White Dots, Ebo VoRtex's, Columbia Reaction Rolls, Ebo Nitro, Black hammers, power grooves, you name it...we got it. And the thing about this house is......it is the largest house in the DMV area......48 lanes!!
Whenever I struggle in this house, I immediately go straight to the racks!

Oooh! I like this, let's all play the theft & selling stolen property across state lines game!!
-
While I'm not planning on participating, I don't see how this automatically becomes a "selling stolen property game". While I wouldn't condone taking a house ball, purchased by the center for customer use, why does a ball that was left behind by someone, not purchased by the center, become the center's property? I would say ask the manager if you could take just to be sure everything on the up and up, but unless the ball was purchased by the center, or donated to the center by someone for their use, talking about stealing and selling stolen property seems a little extreme to me. Lighten up a bit.

theft n. the generic term for all crimes in which a person intentionally and fraudulently takes personal property of another without permission or consent and with the intent to convert it to the taker's use (including potential sale). In many states, if the value of the property taken is low (for example, less than $500) the crime is "petty theft," but it is "grand theft" for larger amounts, designated misdemeanor, or felony, respectively.

I will consider taking back one of the many balls that I left on the racks over the years. I'm sure the center isn't going to miss the old 16lb LT 48 that was left on the rack that has the name "Elmer" above the fingers and dried out grips. You guys are making sound like the intention of this was to walk into the office of a center and grab one of the damaged balls that has been repaired and sell it. Considering that this doesn't seem to be a popular thread I will lock it up as I don't want any of you angels to spend a night in jail for "grand left". You guys need to lighten up a little.
