Title: Who’s your favorite bowling ball manufacturer
Post by: DrBwlr15 on January 21, 2018, 11:33:21 PM
If you had an open offer from any of the companies listed below to be on staff, which one would you choose?

Storm/Roto
Ebonite International
Brunswick/Radical/DV8
Motiv
900 Global

I personally throw Storm/Roto.

I feel like I could create a workable arsenal with any of the brands listed but I choose Storm/Roto simply b/c it's a great quality product that has always been good for me.  I'm just not quite as familiar with the other product lines.....

Idk...as a consumer I throw storm / roto but I assume the staffing position at 900 or EBI might be more lucrative...

900 global  because AMF is part of them.

I took a good hard look at everyone about 6 months ago.  When it came contract time last month, I could have probably entertained some other offers if I'd have wanted to, but I didn't.  Pros and cons were so staggeringly in favor of staying put that I'm not sure what it would take to move me honestly.

I'd throw any of these brands if paid...

I don't really have a favorite. Everybody makes good stuff.

But, if I had this kind of an option I would probably go with the Storm family. I like their mid/low tier offerings better than those of other companies.

Hmm, let me think...

If you all don't know the answer for me, you need to pay attention.

Can't see myself ever going staff even if it was an option.  Only company its even remotely tempting is Visionary so maybe could get access to some of their discontinued pieces.

I'd throw any for free or even discounted equipment. Too bad I'm a hack averaging 243.something right now 🤣🤣🤣

Right now, I'd say EBI just because they have have more quality options across their brands than any other company. I really like my Radical stuff, and they'd be a strong second.

The problem with falling in love with any one brand is that their relative standing can change quickly. EBI has gone from really good to bad to really good again over just a few years. Storm has some legendary balls and has been consistently good, but they're in a period where they've spitting out more mediocre balls than they should.

If you're not watching carefully and open to having a mixed arsenal, you're missing out. It's rare that one company has the best of breed in every category at any one point in time.

900 global  because AMF is part of them.

Except that 900 Global has all but killed the AMF brand. I used to throw only AMF. When Columbia made their balls they had a consistent release schedule and I had a ball for every condition. Since 900 global took over, you get maybe 3 new balls a year. Can't build an arsenal from that. I hated to do it, but I stopped buying AMF and went Motiv. If I was QubicaAMF, I wouldn't be happy with what 900 Global has done to my brand.

My favorite ball company was Faball.

Given the choices you put up, I would go Storm/Roto. Not because their stuff is outstandingly better, but their pockets are deeper, and that makes it easier for them to supply the staffers with whatever they need.

As you can see from the tv shows, you can score with any of them right now. Resin and research helped close the gap between the companies, because everything out there now is so far advanced over the equipment of yesteryear that even the cheaper, entry level stuff strikes harder than the premium stuff from the 1980’s.

Hell, even the Chinese balls that everybody seems to frown at are FAR superior to an original black urethane Hammer.

With nearly all other things equal, go with the guy that has the deepest pockets, and that is Storm/Roto.

You sound just like me right now lol I'm open to anything. Averaged around 240 the past couple months throwing a Paradox Black, Creed, and Tag Cannon. I don't get anything discounted so I've just been going with what I think will fit the reaction I'm looking for.

If I got the choice to pick, I'd probably go EBI right now

EBI was not bad, they were REALLY, REALLY bad for stretch.

To answer the question: Storm/Rotogrip, 1st, with EBI second.

900 Global works extremely well for me. Im surprised on the DCT on how strong it is. Just ordered the DCT Pearl and Shadow Ops today and hopefully use them in a tourney this coming weekend.

Storm/roto

Thrown hammer in the past as well. Still have a scandal in the bag.

900 global  has had a few recent offerings that look interesting to me. Been wanting to try a honey badger especially.
