Why are high scores important?
« on: January 15, 2010, 11:54:52 AM »
Why do you think high scores are so important to THB's? I really dont get THAT much satisfaction out of going to the same center with same shot and putting up 300 or 750+. If I did I wouldnt be bowling where I am now.

So What is the big deal if you score big or not?

Not trying to be a prick I am just wondering about other people's mindset.

since score is the only objective measure of success in bowling many people see it as the only measure of success in bowling.

You've just become jaded because you've been a much above average bowler for years.  You probably throw 6-10 strikes in a row somewhat regularly.  Think back to when you averaged 180 or so and the first time you had the front 8 or so.  Surely your blood was pumping good then.  For the average league bowler (last I saw men were still in the 170 range), many will only get a few chances for 300 or a decent 700 in their lives.  If your high over the last two years is in the 250 range, you would surely get charged up for a potential 300.

I'm always concerned with how big of scores I can bowl. To me thats the measure of success, and what I'm after. I got a late start into bowling in my mid-late 20's, so feel I've got some catching up to do.

But, I also look at improving something everytime I bowl, and making good quality shots. Plus being able to hang out with friends, team mates etc. too.
