Why bowl
« on: April 22, 2005, 12:21:29 AM »
99.9% of us will never make the tour.  Scores and averages are meaningless.  Tournaments now a days are based on who matches up to the condition and gets the carry that day.  Leagues are almost all handicapped, even if you win its a hollow victory.  If you win because you're the highest average team then you should have won anyhow.  If you win because of handicap it's not really a win.

I've watched the game evolve from a game of consistency, speed control, tilt, roll to simply throwing it somewhere to the right (left) and watch the ball automatically hit the pocket.

Why would you recommend anyone take up this sport.

Other than personal satisfaction whats the point.

Magic Carpet beat me to it...if it were not for bowling I would not have met a lot of the great people I have, especially from this site.  I also enjoy the challenge, I am not your typical lefty who within a few years averaged 200+.  I am constantly working on my game and hope to one day be a 200+ ave bowler.

I bowl to provide amusement for my friends.

I'd like to think that I bowl for the enjoyment of throwing the ball really well, but since I've never done that... I really don't know why I bowl!

I'm really disgusted with leagues, not even sure if I'll bowl in one next year.  I might just become a practice bowler...

99.9% of us will never live to be 100 years old.  What you eat and how much you excercise are meaningless when it is so easy to get shot by some criminal out for kicks.  Jobs nowadays provide no security and we're all living paycheck to paycheck with no thoughts to retirement.  If you do live past 90, it sucks anyway because we inevitably have some crippling ailment.  If you don't have some crippling ailment, your mind is rotting or anyway.

I've watched society evolve from a time of family values, morals, and consideration for others to simply "me first and the gimme gimmies" spawning children shooting each other in grade school.

Why would anyone not slit their throat immediately after birth?

Other than maybe getting through kindergarten what's the point.
