Coverstock or Drilling?

do you guys feel that the ball alters greating in it's reaction with different drill patterns OR simply Drill Label and alter the coverstock to get the reaction you want? Considering that the coverstock affects 85% of the ball reaction.

A lot of good ball drillers insist on drilling only Label and altering the cover to suit the house/pattern that the bowling bowls.

And that works for 95% of the bowlers out there. If you're only going to bowl on house shots, even if you change houses, a label drilling will work for most bowlers. They have enough mechanical problems that they don't need to be worried about drill patterns.

I find drill patterns do help out my game. I am at the 2 teen's level currently, and the name of the game out there on a house shot is carry. If i can find a ball that just rolls slightly different (i.e. i have a saw blade, high polish, drilled almost pin axis, that really carrys) to carry an extra strike or 2 a game, it really helps me out. When i'm bowling tournaments, I don't want to be there saying "If i only had a ball that did ___" fill in the blank.

I think that drill patterns only affect bowlers in the maybe 185 and most definately 200 level and above, or people that tournament bowl.
