Scoring attitude
« on: October 11, 2004, 06:57:35 AM »
Scoring, just a matter of perspective.

In the early days of bowling, a 600 was a good night, 700 was an exceptional nite.

Now all we have to do is raise our expectations a little.  700 is a good night, 800 is an exceptional night.

Starting 2010, just raise every thing up a notch, 800 good night, 900 is an  exceptional night.

SrKegler: That's very true. I guess I get the best of both worlds though in my local area- I have one house where shooting 700 is a given for most 220 average bowlers, and that the occasional 800 happens at least once a month. The other house, there have been 2 600's in a month and a half in the leagues- and the highest was a 608 shot last week. I've had one of the only two 700's in the past two years in that house with a 717. I think there may be 3 800's sanctioned in that house in 44 years.

In 2010 maybe the pba will have capped all these hi performance balls in pba competition and all the kids will want what I'm throwing and people that throw what is considered hi performance in 6 years will be called filthy cheaters.

I hope not.  I still think that shooting 700 is an exceptional night.  Not just anyone can average 233.33 a game for 3 games!

simple adjustment to the high scores:
increase weight of regulation pins by 8 oz.

1. strike percentage goes down,
2. spare percentage remains the same...

Yes, I urinate on my ball...it doesn't give me better reaction or make my hands tougher.  It just makes me feel better.
