Title: Why do you do this? Do you hate me?

I just joined up a few days ago and now I find myself wanting, no no, NEEDING about 30 different balls...  It's all your fault...  I'm going to be broke in no time.

I guess I should use this as my introduction thread too.

I'm 24, just started bowling.  Started out throwing a bunch of 100 average games and after reading John Jowdy's book I've bumped that up to a 150 or so.  I'm a stroker and throw a Storm Diablo.  High game is a 210.

Hehe, welcome BradM.  I'm in the same category as you...22, started bowling in march, have about a 180-190 average.  Already I have 6 different balls (not from my own pocket though).  Its fun trying out new equipment, but it sucks when some of it doesnt work out for you.  Have fun bowling!

Yes, this website is actually a trick.  It looks helpful and friendly, until it lures you in and promptly snatches your wallet.  You watch in a state of horror as the money disappears from the wallet, but then bowling balls appear at your doorstep to get you to feel elated.  But then a new ball comes out, and the money is taken again.  It's a vicious cycle that nobody has been able to defeat.  Or tried to.

The only problem is that you have to buy 30 balls to find out which is the precious ball, only to have it crack on you just after they discontinue it.

As a bonus you get a grace period of about 2 weeks before someone on a rant tells you that you should only have one ball until you reach a certain average.

Ha!  Thanks for all the replies guys, you've got me rolling in the floor!

Can't wait to drop some cash on another ball.  League starts for me on the 14th.  The best thing about all of this, my wife LOVES bowling.  Maybe even more than I have grown to love it.  She's been bowling for about 5 years now.  It gives me a free pass on bowling equipment!

I think she will be up next for a new ball though.  She is throwing a Storm "Trauma Unit" that I can't even find a picture of on the internet.  I think it's about 4 years old.

I know, I've been eyeballing that Cobalt Bomb Solid...It's calling my name but, I'm afraid if I buy one Lane #1 ball... I'll end up hooked like every one else who uses their stuff.

Hmm, i guess im different. I used a Lane#1 Cobalt (the pearl blue one) for about 2 weeks in leauge. I wasnt to thrilled with the overall reaction of it. Others have found great success from that ball, just didnt like me for whatever reason. Have not looked at Lane#1 since. They have great equipment but for 1 too expensive and 2 im more dedicated to brunswick.

Anyway, welcome to the site! We all get that ball junky urge, even I have it, used to have 35 balls, now im down to 8. Have fun, enjoy the information and watch out for the idiots that occasionally show up!
