Heavy Oil - Roll or Revs
« on: March 05, 2004, 03:12:06 PM »
Okay people, trying to get some feedback here on what you guys think is better for a heavy to longer oil patterns, short backends.  Should you have a ball drilled to roll early?  Or should you drill a ball to rev up so you can snap and open up the backends?  I've seen both in action with success but what do you guys think?  Thanks.

I second that, a rolling ball will hit better than a ball still trying to release energy at the pins.  My definition of heavy oil is anything over 42 feet of oil.  We bowled on the TOC shot (buffed to 50).  A strong particle rolling when it hit the pocket was better than anything else.

the key to handling long/heavy oil is getting mid-lane roll. a ball or drilling that saves most of it's energy for the backend will often go past your breakpoint.
