I've been to that house once or twice when I was visiting relatives there.  I never met the owners, but an article in the local newspaper said that they were moving out of state (I think it was South Carolina) due to "family concerns".  

Apparently they don't want to hang on to the place, and they're using this tournament as a way of getting more money than they could collect from straight out selling it.  They might actually be right, because I don't think you'd get much for the place in a small town like Velva.

Ive bolwed in this place more then a few times... Its really not that bad, and actually at one point in time had quite afew league bowlers... The current owner has only owned the center for a couple years, but due to some family problems in Oregon, he is unable to keep the center open year around.  He came up with this format simply so that the "top" bowler does not win it, but anyone who happens to bowl consistant has a chance.... Actually its one of the coolest formats ive ever seen, and we are looking into running a tourney down here similar to it.
