Winter league is over, what will you do this summer?
« on: April 23, 2010, 02:31:39 AM »
I hear all kinds of different things from people around this time.

I wrote the following article on this topic where I talk about why I think you should do some bowling during the summer months.  Muscle memory is hard to come by, especially "Good" memory.  Why let it go for a couple of months?

http://tamerbowling.com/index.php/winter-league-is-over-what-are-you-doing-this-summer/

So which one are you?

1 - "It''s too nice outside to be in here!"
2 - "I''m tired of bowling and need a break!"
3 - "I think I''ll practice over the summer now and then."
4 - "I''m bowling a summer league."
5 - "PBAx all the way baby!"

Sad or not, I''m #5!

Numbers 1 and 2. I play golf during the summer, and don't pick up a bowling ball until August. As for your muscle memory thing, 3 games of practice on the typical THS is all that is required to get ready for the winter. I guess that's why my average hovers around 215 every year.

Plus it's too hot in the bowling center during the summer.

Get out and enjoy some fresh air!!!!!!!!!!!!

1 PBAX league, just to stay rolling a ball and do surface experimentation.

Other than that, i'm OUTSIDE!

I understand how you feel.  However, if you are fine tuning your game, 3 months is a long time to let something go and try to pick it up that muscle memory again
Enjoy the golf!  I should have asked about softball, lots of guys doing that too.  I guess it's 1 or 2 as well...

PBA Experience league on Thursday nights. A quick practice session on Wednesdays also on the PBA Experience patterns (because I'm practicing and either by myself or with just a friend, I'll be in and out of there in an hour or so). Other than that, golf!!

#6 None of the above because your unemployed with unemployment soon to run out. Can no longer afford to bowl or anything right now. Unless I can find a job in the next 4 months I might not beable to bowl, golf, or goto the Radio Control racing track with any regularity.

I was planning on joining a PBAx leauge this summer but not anymore.

Bowled 3 leagues all winter and will bowl a couple of times in June to get ready for my trip to Reno then not again until about 2 weeks before winter leagues start again.  I need a break...Guess that would be a #2

# 5 for me as well as bowling in a few Eatern Regional events.  On the weekends that I'm not bowling it will be # 1 hopefully playing golf.

For the Summer . 5! Last year 4 leagues during Winter this year 3 .. I managed to bowl most of the season but health is slowing me down. Hope to join 2 leagues next Winter .. planning Monday and Thursday .. this will give me some recovery time between .. old age seem to have hit me between the eyes .. still can bowl but the body is resisting!

Wasn't trying to make this a sympathy post but thanks. I'll just have to get on the ball looking for a job even harder now. Been looking since last June with no luck, had a couple interviews but no luck still.
