Winter league is over, what will you do this summer?
« on: April 23, 2010, 02:31:39 AM »
I hear all kinds of different things from people around this time.

I wrote the following article on this topic where I talk about why I think you should do some bowling during the summer months.  Muscle memory is hard to come by, especially "Good" memory.  Why let it go for a couple of months?

http://tamerbowling.com/index.php/winter-league-is-over-what-are-you-doing-this-summer/

So which one are you?

1 - "It''s too nice outside to be in here!"
2 - "I''m tired of bowling and need a break!"
3 - "I think I''ll practice over the summer now and then."
4 - "I''m bowling a summer league."
5 - "PBAx all the way baby!"

Sad or not, I''m #5!

#6 for me as well. Was just informed yesterday
that my company is closing the doors on July 30.
Hopefully I can find something before then. If not
I will be joining millions of Americans that are
on Unenjoyment.

Well for starters after monday i'm implementing number 2 for a little while.

Then its time to practice a lot and get better as well as bowl in a sport shot league (kegel patterns instead of PBA, unless something changes between now and june).

I'm just hitting that drag of wanting to be done bowling and get out a bit because of the weather but that always fades out pretty quick and I get back into bowling again.

As far a league, #5 all the way. Schedule permitting, a regional or two. There will probably also be 5-10 games a week of THS practice with buddies.

PBA Experience League on Wednesdays then PBA Midwest Regionals on the weekends. The house Ill be bowling PBAX at, is owned by a PBA Senior Tour member, so he puts out the Regionals shot on that Wednesday, so incase any of us bowl that weekend, we have had practice on the shot already....

1, 2, 3!

My hand is pretty beat up from bowling a lot and I need to heal it up, there are no really good summer leagues around here so I wont be doing that... probably just go out and practice every now and then to keep on top of my game before tournaments roll in during the mid-summer.

u people are insane, i live in houston, maybe some of you are farther north.  Then again, i am fat & lazy, but its WAY too hot to be outside at all, unless im in a pool.

I would bowl every day if i had the money & time to do so.

Last year I started a kegel sport fun night. It's not sanctioned, it's just show up if you want to bowl. We take a vote on what pattern to play each night, then we bowl anywhere from 4 to 6 games and we keep track of scores week to week. It's alot of fun. This year I am going to throw the 5 animal patterns in the mix and maybe oil another pair with one of them and one pair with a kegel pattern. It's really amazing how much it helps you. Three of my guys that bowled last summer with me had their first 300 this year. One of them also had an 800 and brought his average up 17 pins over last year.

That's the difference between living in the south and living in the north. South you poeple get to enjoy the weather 90% of the year while us up north have to take advantage of every decent day we can get to enjoy the warm weather! Thankfully we've had several great days of weather up here already this spring. Been so nice the golf courses opened up a month early!

#7 for me. Working light duty and awaiting a clean bill of health.

I turned my knee at work on wednesay, and the doctor seems to think it may have torn cartilage from the symptoms. Had X-rays and an MRI yesterday, so I should know something in a couple of days.

Until I get a clean bill of health, no bowling for me.

Haven''t missed a league in years now.
