Winter league is over, what will you do this summer?
« on: April 23, 2010, 02:31:39 AM »
I hear all kinds of different things from people around this time.

I wrote the following article on this topic where I talk about why I think you should do some bowling during the summer months.  Muscle memory is hard to come by, especially "Good" memory.  Why let it go for a couple of months?

http://tamerbowling.com/index.php/winter-league-is-over-what-are-you-doing-this-summer/

So which one are you?

1 - "It''s too nice outside to be in here!"
2 - "I''m tired of bowling and need a break!"
3 - "I think I''ll practice over the summer now and then."
4 - "I''m bowling a summer league."
5 - "PBAx all the way baby!"

Sad or not, I''m #5!

For me #3 and #4. I do need more practice but since our local drag srip opened up it's time to go racing just on the weekends only. I usually don't pick up a bowling ball during the summer except when I bowl the TNBA tournament when it comes here in July.

bowl in the summer of course. I bowl winter and summer continuously for at least 10 years on at least 2 leagues. Time off is not an option for me. Bowl or die.

I will also be bowling in that league with Tracy but I am not good enough to bowl on his team since he is known as the "King Of Denton" around these parts.

He just doesn''t like me I guess.. LOL!!

Last year I started a kegel sport fun night. It's not sanctioned, it's just show up if you want to bowl. We take a vote on what pattern to play each night, then we bowl anywhere from 4 to 6 games and we keep track of scores week to week. It's alot of fun. This year I am going to throw the 5 animal patterns in the mix and maybe oil another pair with one of them and one pair with a kegel pattern. It's really amazing how much it helps you. Three of my guys that bowled last summer with me had their first 300 this year. One of them also had an 800 and brought his average up 17 pins over last year.

Lucky dog!  I'd love to be able to lay down any pattern I want.  That's why I will be getting lanes in my house...someday...when I hit the lottery

When a house bowler misses the mark, misses the break point and strike, for many ppl its called a wallshot. When a pro does that its call adjustment

When a house bowler gets his finger stuck in the ball and fall on the lanes, for many ppl its called lame bowler. When a pro does that its called the Machuga flop! ha i like this one.

Still have a few tournaments here and there between now and the end of June, so I'll be mostly working out and golfing.

I am in a similar situation as Juggernaut, I have an infected disc in my back and a resulting bulging disc from a slip in the hospital.  Drs. and therapist assure me that I will be back bowling just not sure when.  If I can I will try and bowl league this summer.
