Most of the talk about how easy the THS is comes from those who still struggle to a accomplish anything on any shot.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I agree.  Granted, my THS average today is 30 pins higher than it was in 1998, yet my PBAX average is also 10 pins higher than my THS average was back then.  I started bowling in 1986 so I wasn't a beginner.  I'd like to think that my average increase has something to do with some hard work at practice and not just soft conditions/overpowering equipment.  Fire away.

In my area:

Very good:  225+
--pretty much every guy avging 225 can bowl.  Are some alittle one dimensional? you bet, but they can bowl.

Good:  210
--These guys can repeat shots for the most part, but are limited in their ability to attack the lanes and adjust their roll.

Avg:  175-180
--Decent mechanics, fair spare shooters, struggle to read transition

Don't know who you're talking about thrownxstruthmumblyjoewhateveryourcallingyourself. You are nothing but a guy who considers himself head and shoulders above the typical league bowler. You are nothing but a "Tourney hack"

CRD: You throw out cute little terms like 'typical league bowler' and 'Tourney hack' without providing your own definition of what they mean. Ask five bowlers, and you could very easily get five different definitions. I know you struggle with most topics requiring thought, but reach down, explore new territory, and provide some context. That would actually be helpful.

Now, in my own case, I'm not currently in the average range of what most posters here (including myself) have defined as high. I certainly don't consider myself 'head and shoulders' above these bowlers. I respect anyone (at any average) who works on their game with the intent of achieving their full potential. That includes even the last place tournament finisher who pushed themselves and did their very best.

I suspect much of your anger comes from having settled for less than your potential. The realization of lost potential has a way of eating away at your gut, and your overall forum behavior is a clear symptom of that.

BTW, you haven't provided you own answer to the main question of 'What averages would apply at what level?'. I'm curious what your own answers are, and why you never achieved what most here have defined as high.

I don't see the variances here on the high end from house to house that you guys refer to. I have one house where I have a tougher time carrying and so am at 225. The other two are 233, 232.

Good house bowlers should be able to figure out what scores and adjust accordingly. Different places play different styles better or worse. Just gotta know how to attack them.

I can't believe some of you have 200+ at the low level.  Are you kidding me?  If THAT'S low than what is 190, 180 and even 160?  I agree that average are pretty house specific but 200 isn't "low" even at the easiest house in the world.

I agree.  200 as low is not quite low.

I dont know where some of you guys bowl but saying anything below 189 average is a "low" average is complete crap. In my area only about 15% average above 180

It's all about matchup on THS...you would be surprised that most pros would probably average 225ish on a house shot.  Their games and ball rolls are designed to not have much area, and to read midlanes...not tophat conditions.

If that was true, why were the averages at the Red White and Blue Open way higher than that?

What anger are you talking about, Dr Philmumblyjoe? You're more full of sh!t than a Christmas goose. You're the original "Tourney Hack" on these boards.

As far as anger, I think your response speaks for itself. Another episode of being emotionally out of control, with a does of fabricating your own twisted reality.

Now take a deep breath, focus, and try to stay on topic. Try to answer the following questions that have been presented at various points here:

1) If the perception of an "easy THS" hasn't been spread by underachievers trying to stroke their own egos, then what bowling group is mostly responsible?

2) To the main question presented in the topic, within the highest caliber league you personally participate in, what averages apply at the high, medium and low level?

3) Where do you fit into the overall scheme of things?

Actually, if you look back at the scores, the pros scored higher on the White pattern than the Red, even though it's flatter. They had some miss room compared to the PBA shots, but they also didn't have to worry much about overreaction off the friction on the White pattern, but on the red pattern that played more like a house shot, they did. Remember, on a very wet/dry shot, big mistakes are rewarded and small mistakes are punished!
