Hi - I wish to build a "Hot Box" to remove lane oil from the ball! Any suggestions? 2-ball box, heat lamps size and intensity, duration, special issues??? Thanks - Denny

Some time ago someone posted on here about doing a similar thing using a hair dryer and, I believe, a styrofoam cooler. Be sure to keep a close check on the temperature and rotate the ball frequently. -- JohnP

You don't need heat lamps, regular light bulbs will work...they cooked cakes in my sister's Easy Bake Oven.
The trick will be designing it to be relatively easy to use. I don't know about you, but having to wipe the oil off the ball every five minutes seems like a pain in the butt.
Maybe if you could get your hands on an old hot dog grill with the rollers and disable the heating elements. Build a box big enough to hold it, put in four cheap lights fixtures (those ones with the metal shade and the clip on the base). Make the top of the box just a bit higher than the top of the bowling balls, mount a hinge and connect it to a wooden lid. You can attach any type of absorbant cloths to the lid and the weight of the wooden lid should provide sufficient pressure to get the oil off.
