Wizard Ball Plug...need a little info
« on: November 05, 2009, 03:55:24 PM »
I am ordering a urethane plug here sometime in the next couple weeks. I have had some friends tell me wizard is extremely hard to color. Is this true. I am going to be making my own slugs and was just curious. Is this plug any good? http://www.easy-strike.com/   I just stumbled across it. Thanks in advance.

It is great for plugging and redrilling thumbs, or pitch plugging fingers. I can completely plug and redrill a ball in about 1 hour! It is smooth texture and works out easily. The downside is: you must use their color kit to color it. Nothing else will work. And it (the color kit) is expensive. Also, the plug is kind of opaque and bland in color, not the prettiest. The plug will be a kind of vanilla-white if you don''t color it. The plug comes with black tint only, and the black doesn''t look too bad, just not glossy. None of the colors will look glossy. I use it to fill 2/3 of each hole on a plug job, then use Powerhouse Everclear plug to finish for a great look and color. All in all, I do like Wizard, but not for where the plugged holes will be seen! I am not familiar with the Easy Strike brand, but it sounds similar to Wizard.I would say the Wizard would be great for making slugs.

Also keep in mind that this stuff has a 1 yr shelf life. It will go bad after 1 yr and only comes in a 2 gallon kit.

I use Innovative's 6 hr plug kit and have never had any problems. Colors easy too. I've never used the Wizard kit so I can't comment on that. http://www.innovativebowling.com/ is the link to the site.

I have worked with many different brands of plug...

This was by far the toughest to use....

Pretty much everything stated in the above post is accurate...

I use Ultima which is now made by Brunswick.....

That part about red turning pink.... 100% dead on....

And all that does is create a lot of work, when you have to re do it....

Cause most men, don't want pink............

Got this product in once by mistake, and keep it....

BIG TIME mistake.................  what a waste of money.......
