Not giving up the source but with a little research you should find it. But a Wolverine got past the scale room and was being used at The USBC Open Championships

 Uh oh.

If he went through the line and had his stuff checked, and THEY let it in, then his scores should count.

They didn't really "check" my stuff either, just rolled em over to check the serial number/stamp and look for weight holes.

Just rolled them down the rail and said "You're good".

If someone brings in multiple balls, it would be easy to just leave one in the bag and not have it inspected.

About 5-6 years ago the scale room made me take a ball that they said was 1/8 oz over (the 1 oz standard) to the booth and have the guy remove that 1/8 of an oz,
after he picked himself up from the floor laughing.

This is the same USBC that now gives us 3 oz, because why?  It doesn't matter as much as a well-placed balance hole.
And the same USBC that spent years creating and approving a list of ball cleaners legal to use during play, only to say all their research was for naught...

I think it depends on who's on shift ..I know people who have gotten called out for wearing a ball brand crew neck... (No collar) for dress code.

Sometimes though they are not on it though.

Actually, the reason for the ban is just because the bottle says one thing, that doesn't mean that's what's in the bottle. You could put anything illegal in that bottle and take to league or a tournament. No one would probably question you.

The USBC isn't as dumb as you guys think.
Balls: Motiv Trident Abyss, Motiv Mythic Jackal, Motiv Trident Odyssey, Motiv Venom Shock, Motiv Hyper Venom and Motiv Hyper Sniper. All made in the USA. Long live the Turbulent core!

I use a pinky finger hole in all my equipment and have for 20+ years.

Back in 2012 at Baton Rouge, I'm checking in and I put a ball up that had a weight hole in it plus the pinky finger hole. The guy checking appears to brain-lock on this and tells me I can't have a ball with "two weight holes." I had to pull out the rest of my equipment and show him the pinky finger holes in the rest of my equipment before he got the idea.

I understand your point, and heard it many times before.  My stance is, and will remain, that anyone desperate enough to try that has no game, or has no confidence that they can win on a level playing field.  They can use what they want, and I will use cleaners I know do a decent job, and I will take my chances any day.

I feel the same way, and to that end I don't care how much side weight a ball has or differential or any of that. Want three pounds of side weight? Go for it. Differential of 2.000? Have at it. Someone still has to be behind the thing throwing it. There's a distinct set of diminishing returns out there if you geek a ball up thinking you're going to somehow cheat your way onto the PBA.
