What balls are the ladies playing with??
« on: April 01, 2007, 07:33:17 PM »
hey,
i'm in the process of looking for a ball for my gf, she's currently bowling the 'back-up' style, but she want to switch to, i guess you can call it the 'traditional' style. I don't know what to choose.

Someone told me find out what the women, like diandra asbaty and lynda barnes, are using and maybe i can figure out.

Well i been trying to search for it but doesn't show much results for that.

Anyone know? please give me some input.

Thanks!

++EDIT++
Yeah, the title is just for laughs, but got ya attention though.
Thanks for the input, i don't have that kinda money for an entry lvl ball to experiment around, She is already throwing a RS-P, Hot Rod SS Pearl, and a dead Big Hit as a spare. So she got a decent arsenal, but the reaction isn't that great when switching up bowling styles.
Well, i have a friend(girl), gotta find her Tropical Storm. She also has an Agent, RSX, and some other ball, but she's currently in houston, so no other options at the moment.

Haven't a clue what they're using...though I think Diandra throws Brunswick.

I played back up for years and only changed to hook in 2003....I started out with an entry level reactive - think it was the Power Groove by Brunswick.

Let's get our mind out of the gutter!

Ladies play with the same balls that men play with.
There is no gender bias.

Make sure to clean them, and have a proper fit though.

..I retract my first sentence.

Since she wants to switch to traditional, just get your basic entry level bowling ball.
Let her find her style, and get a feel for the basics, and move from there.

Power Groove, C300 Scout, but if she enjoys playin with balls that have a pleasant odor, check out the Storm Tropical Storm.  Many scents available and the cost is normally just over $100 !!

For an entry level "hook" ball I highly recommend the Hammer Blue Vibe.  get her a 14 lb vibe and she should be happy.  the ball works very well on nearly any house conditions.  hammer markets the ball as a dry lane ball but the reaction is much stronger than marketed.  I actually use the Blue Vibe as my bench mark ball to find out how the conditions are.  On a house lane thats usually where my search ends (have a BW and Hammer Doom but never really need to use them if i'm on a standard house lane).

My wife throws a 14# Storm purple/green Tropical Storm.  My daughter is just starting out and is rolling a 12# Ebonite Vortex V2 Clean.  My wife started with the 13# Ebonite Tornado, but the Tropical is such a better ball.  For the price you just can't go wrong.
