Denny’s PBA Tour stars Chris Barnes, Norm Duke and Tommy Jones will make an appearance on the “Late Show with David Letterman,” Monday, July 30.

The three stars will perform trick shots on a portable lane throughout the late night talk show, which airs Monday night at 11:35 p.m.

Barnes is an eight-time Denny’s PBA Tour titlist who won the inaugural 2004-05 PBA Skills Challenge, a trick shot competition which made him famous for his “Flying Eagle” shot.

Duke, who owns 26 Denny’s PBA Tour titles, is also a past Skills Challenge competition winner, capturing the title during the 2005-06 season. Duke is known for striking with a ball thrown from a towel, as well as converting the 7-10 split with one ball ricocheting off a slow spinning ball.

Jones, the 2005-06 PBA Player of the Year who last season reached 10 Denny’s PBA Tour titles faster than any player in history, joined in the Skills Challenge competition the last two years as well. He became known for throwing a ball over a chair to throw a strike.

David Letterman is in his 25th year of late-night television, hosting nearly 5,000 broadcasts and 15,000 guests. He has garnered 14 Emmy Awards and 89 Emmy nominations in that span. After spending almost 12 years at "Late Night with David Letterman," Letterman moved his show to the CBS Television Network on Aug. 30, 1993, and is now in his 14th season on CBS.

Duke, Barnes and Jones will all be on.  Most likely performing stupid bowling stunts like smashing appliances and breaking various items with a bowling ball. I'm sure their appearance will surely promote the sport of bowling and increase viewership for the upcoming season.

Oh sweet!  Actually, I have found Letterman's show to be really funny lately.  I don't know if they have new writers or what.

And he will probably go, "Bowling, Duh? What's that?" It will be absolutely hysterical, except to bowlers ....

I saw it.  No Letterman didn't make fun of bowling.

They had one bowling lane set up on the street with moving traffic going next to it.  They made jokes about that.

Chris Barnes did the billiard shot which I guess was impressive to the audience.

Then Norm Duke tried to do the thing where he sends one ball spinning, hooks a second ball around the first ball and leaves a spare and then the first ball picks up the spare.  He failed to do this twice and I felt bad for him.

Tommy "TJ" Jones as he was constantly referred to, was going to do the loft over the chair shot but they somehow broke a hole in the lane between breaks.  They showed what his trick looked like in a replay, but then TJ did a shot that went through three chairs to strike.

I don't know, the whole thing kind of came off as a train wreck to me so I went to bed after that.  I am not sure if they ever got a shot of Norm Duke successfully doing his thing but I am not sure if they could do it once there was a giant hole in the middle of the lane.

I thought the PBA guys came off well but the whole thing was kind of eh.

I caught the tail end of it.  They cut to the lane and nobody was there, but I saw the hole in the lane.  Dave made some comment about hallucinating (I guess he was sick??) because "I swear we had some bowlers out there on 53rd street."

Before the end of the show they went back for Barnes to do the Flying Eagle trick.  Instead of the pin on the second lane, TJ was supposed to catch the pin in a trash can - he missed.  Then they cut to some earlier practice shots where TJ actually caught the pin in the can - PBA guys in shorts during the practice.

I caught most of it and thought it was pretty good.  Letterman has always had a good relationship with bowlers.  Dick Weber made MANY appearences on the show always doing interesting things.  I remember one time Weber threw a ball into a TV instead of pins.  Wasn't Weber's stunt of bowling on an airplane in conjunction with Letterman's show?

I loved "It was cheaper to close just one lane"

Yeah he mentioned that he was sick earlier on in the show so that was the running gag of the night.

No the airplane thing wasnt letterman because it was in the 60s or 50s and it was for AMF.  He lost to a woman by like 2 pins
