What shot are you bowling on?
« on: January 11, 2008, 03:47:06 AM »
Hello inmates,

Have a simple and quick question for you.  What condition do you feel or know that you're bowling on?  Is it a wall or soft condition (where the outsides are dry and the middle is oilier) or are you more so on an even or tougher flatter pattern (where's there is no tug and not a lot of swing room)?  Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Depends. Practice its a house shot at 40' with a little bit of area (not the easiest house shot I've played on, very rare for a 300 to happen here) then in league I'm starting up the PBA experience league this Monday.

Hven't been able to bowl for about a month.  League shot is 42' medium pattern, flat from 8-8, some swing room outside, no hold in the middle.  House had one honor score last year.

Over Wet/dry house shots with no taper.  Either really high scoring or a PITA with constant transitions.

On Tuesday's I believe its med oil in the middle and heavy on the outsides, this is why you see people throwing quest/LevRg's/TS&A's all at box finish.

On Thursday's it med-light. The friction increases every game.

In the beginning of the season felt like a long pattern and the backend sucked and now it feels like 38 will just alittle more backend...  Its like night and day....

I always thought that both my leagues were real easy house conditions but when I think about it the averages really aren't that high. I'm 3rd high average In both houses at 226, I think there is one person in both houses averaging over 230.

Pretty easy shot but hard to carry, pins off spot about 50 percent of the time no matter if you rerack or not. I bowl on those flipping magentic mendes pins, so the weight at the top makes them fly around funny.

The house gives up about 3-4 300's a year to guys who usually have at least that many in more than one other house they bowl out of. I do not have a 300 there and would die if it actually happened, not hard to hit the pocket but trying to carry is whole different game.

One house is 41' on synthetics, what I would consider medium volume, but bone dry outside the 8 board.

Another house is 43' on synthetics, what I would consider a flood of Exxon proportions down the middle with a gradual taper from 12 to the ditch.

Both houses are what I would consider to be "cake shots".

We ran a PBA Exp. league at the first house last year, and I had a blast. Unfortunately, the wall-babies did not come back for the second season, so we did not run that league again. There is nothing but adult bumper bowling in our area. Sad.

Blended 41' shot, probably medium volume.  Transitions can be tricky, but it's an enjoyable shot for most guys.

if its right before a tournament its pba or sport, other wise its just a house shot so we can focus more on making shots and fundamental rather than scoreing and finding the pocket.

Maybe it's just the state of mind I have been in lately but it seems like a different shot each week.
